Understanding

 The tongue is a collection of skeletal muscles in the


floor of the mouth that can help digestionof food by
chewing and swallowing.


Tongue is known as the taste bud, which
has a lot of taste buds


Tongue is a sense of taste or a sense image
tool that is very sensitive to the stimulation
of the taste of a substance dissolved in
water.

GUM
Is: soft tissue around the crown of a tooth
that protects the tooth-binding tissue


Gum color: Redness, blackish or brownish
because of the pigment inside the gum
 Abnormalities in the Gum:


Gingivitis (gingivitis) a redder color than
usual and easy to bleed (due to plaque,
tartar)

Gum pierced by milk teeth

Swelling (dental infection)

Gum enlargement (epilepsy sufferers)

Sprue


Sprue is a small open wound in the mouth,
which causes pain

 It often occurs in women

 Small thrush (diameter less than 1 cm) often appears in a group consisting of 2-3 open
wounds; it usually disappears by itself in 10 days and does not leave scar tissue.


Larger thrush, is rare; the shape is irregular,
it takes several weeks to heal and often
leaves scar tissue
Tongue Structure
 The tongue is composed of skeletal muscles that attach to the hyoideus bone,
lower jaw bone and styloideus process in the temple bone.

 There are two types of muscles in the tongue, namely extrinsic and intrinsic muscles.

 The tongue has a rough surface because of a bulge called the papilla.

There are three types of papilla namely:

- Filiform papillae (fili = thread); shaped like fine threads;
