Trial In Brief
BSRXMIN and MSRXMIN retune
› BSRXMIN and MSRXMIN affects the HO decision and RX Quality ; where The output
from the neighboring cell signal strength filtering, Rx-lev, is tested against two
minimum level thresholds, one for the downlink signal strength, MSRXMIN, and one
for an estimated uplink signal strength, BSRXMIN.

› The minimum level condition are:

• SS_DOWN n >= MSRXMIN n
• SS_UP n >= BSRXMIN n

BSRXMIN : Range: 0 to 150, Unit: dBm (negative)

Comments: Minimum required signal strength received at the BTS, at the reference point,
to consider the cell as a possible candidate for handover. BSRXMIN takes a positive value,
which represents the corresponding negative value in calculations.
MSRXMIN : Range: 0 to 150, Unit: dBm (negative)
Comments: Minimum required signal strength received at the MS in a given cell
to consider the cell as a possible candidate for handover . MSRXMIN takes a positive value
, which represents the corresponding negative value in calculations.

› Trail 1:- The trial criteria was based on retuning both the BSRXMIN(150) and
MSRXMIN(109) as attached on all cells in NW (5420 Cells) ,The Change was done on
20th SEP’17.

› Result :
› A). Improvement in RX Quality by ~1% from( 94.56 to 95.23)
› B). TCH DROP % Increased ~ 0.3 (from 1.86 to 2.20)
› C). HOSR Decreased by 3.85 (From 93.27 to 89.44)

› Trail 2:- The trial criteria was based on retuning both the BSRXMIN(130) and
MSRXMIN(104) as attached on cells in NW (4865 Cells) and BSRXMIN (115) and
MSRXMIN (99) revert back on 555 cells where NBH TNDROP increased by 5 ,The
Change was done on 25th SEP’17.

Final Conclusion
• To make a good assessment you have to take the whole cluster the cells you changed the
BSRXMIN and MSRXMIN and change will affect the Rx quality and DCR due to impact in HO.

• Increasing the thresholds ensure that the Rx Quality is more successful but take care this
may affect the CDR and HOSR if we increase it a lot.

• Decreasing the thresholds ensure that the HOSR and CDR is more successful but RX Quality
will decease accordingly.
