Agriculture is the art and science of crop and livestock production on farms. It is an important sector for India's national income, employment, industry, foreign trade, internal trade, and transport. However, Indian agriculture is backward due to several human, industrial, and technical factors such as high population pressure on limited land, small farm sizes, outdated land tenure systems, lack of irrigation, old cultivation methods, and weak cattle. The development of Indian agriculture is needed to address these challenges and strengthen the country's economy.
