1.Augmented Analytics: Future of Data and Analytics

 2.Digital Twins

Digital twin refers to a digital replica of physical assets, processes, people, places,
systems and devices that can be used for various purposes. With the explosion of
Internet of Things, the digital representations of real-world entities or systems, is
becoming a growing trend.

Think of a digital twin as a bridge between the physical and digital world. The
smart components that use sensors to gather data about real-time status, working
condition or position are integrated with a physical item. The components are
connected to a cloud-based system that receives and processes all the data the
sensors monitor. This input is analysed against business and other contextual data.

 One of the most interesting aspects will be the implementation of digital twins of the

According to Don & Alex Tapscott, authors Blockchain Revolution, “The Blockchain is
an incorruptible digital ledger of economic transactions that can be programmed to
record not just financial transactions but virtually everything of value.”
TEDx speaker Ian Khan has quoted “As revolutionary as it sounds, Blockchain truly is a
mechanism to bring everyone to the highest degree of accountability. No more
missed transactions, human or machine errors, or even an exchange that was not
done with the consent of the parties involved. Above anything else, the most critical
area where Blockchain helps is to guarantee the validity of a transaction by recording
it not only on a main register but a connected distributed system of registers, all of
which are connected through a secure validation mechanism.”

 4.Smart Space

Combining the power of interoperability, connectivity and machine intelligence to

define the future of smart home technology within commercial properties and
businesses is the new technology called Smart Space.

The system has three levels:

Smart Devices or Gadgets: Various objects with embedded computing system and
sensors wirelessly interact with the network and other gadgets.
Infrastructure: A computer program that runs on a corporate data server or in the
cloud. The software receives and analyzes data generated by connected devices.
Apps: Enterprise, web or mobile applications installed on a smart phone or
personal computer to manage connected devices.

Edge computing allows data produced by Internet of Things devices to be processed

closer to where it is created instead of sending it across long routes to data centers
or clouds.

Edge computing is a “mesh network of micro data centers that process or store
critical data locally and push all received data to a central data center or cloud
storage repository, in a footprint of less than 100 square feet,” according to research
firm International Data Corporation.

6.Dueling AI

If you want to make your Artificial Intelligence (AI) system smarter, would you like it
to have a battle with another Artificial Intelligence system? If yes, the arena is digital
images: One AI attempts to create a realistic image, and another AI attempts to
decide whether the image is real or artificial. This makes AI “duel.” Any domain can
be modeled by computers: voices, video or whatever you might want to work with.

Rapid and independent “self-improvement” of AIs through dueling may lead to

breakthroughs in medicine, technology, transportation or other important areas of
life. The tech giants like Amazon and Alibaba are already diving into research in this
area.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) allows employees in a company to configure

computer software or a “robot” to capture and interpret existing applications for
processing a transaction, manipulating data, initiating responses and communicating
with other digital systems.

Any company that uses labor on a large scale for knowledge work, Robotic Process
Automation software will boost its capabilities and save money and time.

RPA provides dramatic improvements in accuracy and cycle time and increased

 8.Connected Vehicle Technology

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT’s) is working to test and evaluate

technology that will enable cars, buses, trucks, trains, roads and other
infrastructure, and our smart phones and other devices to “talk” to one another.
Cars on the highway would use short-range radio signals to communicate with
each other so every vehicle on the road would be aware of where other nearby
vehicles are. Drivers would also receive notifications and alerts of dangerous
situations, connected vehicles could dramatically reduce the number of fatalities
and serious injuries caused by accidents on our roads and highways.

 10.Dark Data: Big Data’s Exploration

As per Gartner, dark data is an information asset organizations collect, process and
store during regular business activities, but generally fail to use for other purposes
(for example, analytics, business relationships and direct monetizing). Dark data is a
subset of big data constituting the biggest portion of the total volume of big
data collected by organizations in a year. Similar to dark matter in physics, dark data
often comprises universe of information assets for most organizations. Organizations
often retain dark data for compliance purposes only but dark data also represents a
huge opportunity for companies to gain valuable insights which can drive their
business. Dark analytics focuses primarily on data that has not been analyzed—with
an emphasis on unstructured data, which may include things such as text messages,
documents, email, video and audio files, and still images.
