Portable Beer Pong Scorer

Eric Mazzocco, Kyle Spahn, Tom Maxwell,

and Brian Suessine
Goals of the System

Easy interface – the interface will be designed to be relatively
easy to use. This speaks to the simplicity of the overall
interface, to the user, which is a primary design goal.

Intuitive interface – the interface will be designed to be
intuitive, meaning that any user actions should be
understandable and logical.

Fast and easy online update – the application will be able to
dock with a computer and automatically update the website,
pending authentication.

Individual statistics – the project will keep vast amounts of
statistics regarding any game of beer pong.
Description of Users

(Primary) – Scorer – use the device to track statistics.

(Secondary) – Drunk Player (College Student) – players of the actual
game of beer pong.

(Secondary) – League Chairman – moderate the league website, post
schedules (setup) games.

(Secondary/Tertiary) – Spectator – watch the matches, can assist with
proper scoring of the game.
Description of the Environment

This software will generally be used to score beer
pong league games which are generally hosted in
bars or houses

These environments may be loud during use of
the device, but this should not detract from the
software’s functionalities

Due to the enviornment the software must be
flexible incase non-scorers end up with the device
− Thus we will be implementing an extensive undo feature
Advance user interface features

Software uses touch screen for user interaction
with the device
− The user uses a stylus to interact with the screen
− Thus the interface in general is very intuitive as all the
user has to do is click on a cup to record a score
Objects interacting with Device

Device interacts with host computer to upload
game information to the MySQL server
− Server holds data on all games and allows users to
browse through previous games and overall records
Gameplay Scenarios

We are now going to demonstrate two possible scenarios that
may occur while playing beer pong and using our device

− Game Scoring: A player makes a shot in the game. The user (scorer)
selects the player that made the cup, then selects the cup that was hit.
The players’ uniquely assigned color will then mark the cup that was
hit on the display, as well as store the statistic.
− Re-Rack: In the game of beer pong, a “re-rack” (reposition the cups in
a new form, generally a triangle) can occur in many different
situations, depending on the chosen rules or number of cups. The re-
rack options can be set ahead of time from the website. The device can
either automatically re-rack based on the preset rules, or a manual re-
rack button can be used to use default shapes as per the scorers’
command for flexibility.
Simulated Game
