Introduction
• People living with HIV (PLWH) have an increased burden of
noncommunicable age-associated comorbidities
• The causes are remain unclear  accelerated aging process
• Aging can be defined as the time-dependent decline of functional
capacity and stress resistance  increased risk of disability, morbidity
and mortality
• Therefore, chronological age may not represent the best way of
measuring aging  did not reflect an actual age
Biomarkers
• Chronic systemic immune activation  soluble CD14þ and CD163þ
• Inflammation  C-reactive protein and interleukin-6
• Coagulation  D-dimer
• Leukocyte telomere length
• Somatic mitochondrial DNA mutations
• Expression levels of the cell cycle regulator CDKN2A
• DNA methylation levels
• Ophthalmological parameters
• Age related brain atrophy [18].
