Hello,

my name is Triangle, and I am

here to document my everyday
life. But if u’re curious as to what
I am, I’m a three sided polygon.
I’m the union of three separate
dots (points) A, B, C.

I have three important parts which are

my vertices (A, B, C), my angles (<A, <B,
<C), and my sides (AB, AC and BC. They
all help in forming me and defining who
I am.
There are other components of mine that
are as important as others:

1. Perimeter: The perimeter is the combination

of the length of my sides.
2. Point – it lies on the interior if it’s inside
me, and exterior if it’s outside me.
3. Included angle: this is an angle that that
contains my two sides in its ray.
4. Included side: a side of my two angles that
have both vertices of my indicated angles
on my sides’ endpoint.
5. Opposite angle and side: these are parts
opposite of one another.
Hi,

Today I want to show u the other kinds of

me. There are three types of which I take form
of according to my sides:

1. Equilateral: when all my sides

are equal.
2. Isosceles: when two of my
sides are equal and the other
remaining side is my base
3. Scalene: when none of mysides
are equal
Hello,
So there are also kinds of me that are classified
through the angle I have:

1. Equiangular: Where all my

angles are the same measure

2. Right: when my angle measures 90

degrees. The angle opposite me is
then called hypotenuse and my other
two sides are now called legs.

3. Obtuse: One of my angles

are obtuse (more than 90⁰)
4. Acute: All of my angles are
less than 90 degrees
Congruence means that 2 shapes, in this case triangles,
have the same length of sides and angles.

Correspondence means that these two shapes have

every sides and vertices paired with then other shapes,
sides and angles.

The first example has a correspondence of If ∆ABC

∆DEF, then it must mean that AB = DE, AC = DF,
BC = EF, ABC DEF, BAC EDF, FED
Postulate #15
- Corresponding Angles Postulate: corresponding angles
are congruent
- If there are two lines that are parallel cut by a transveral
then the pairs of corresponding angles are equal.

In the picture, line AB and line CD are parallel to each other and line EF intersects
in the other lines. The measurement of the angle 2 and angle 6 are equal.
Therefore, the angles are congruent.
Postulate #16
- Corresponding Angles Converse: corresponding
angles that are congruent the lines are parallel
- If two lines are cut by a transversal and their
corresponding angles are congruent, then the lines are
parallel

Line AB and line CE is cut by a

transversal, GF, whereas
angles 2 and 6 are congruent.
Therefore, lines AB and CE
parallel.
Postulate #17
- Slopes of Parallel Lines
- Any two vertical lines are parallel
- In a coordinate plane, two non-vertical lines are parallel if
and only if they have the same slope

The lines in the picture have the same slope, making the lines
vertical to each other.
If two sides of a triangle are congruent , then the angles
opposite to these sides are congruent.

Since S is the midpoint of PQ, PS≅QS by Reflexive Property.

RS≅RS. It is given that PR≅RQ. Therefore, by SSS
ΔPRS≅ΔQRS.

Since corresponding parts of congruent triangles are

congruent,
∠P≅∠Q. The converse of the Isosceles Triangle Theorem is
also true. If two angles of a triangle are congruent, then the
sides opposite those angles are congruent.

If ∠A≅∠B, then AC≅BC.

Corollaries of the Isosceles Triangle Theorem

Corollary 1: An equilateral triangle is also

equiangular.

Corollary 2: An equilateral triangle has three 60

degree angles.

Corollary 3: The bisector of the vertex angle of an

isosceles triangle is perpendicular to the base at its
midpoint.
Every angle has exactly one bisector.
Given: Angle BAE
Prove: Angle BAE has a bisector
Angle BAE has only one bisector
Proof (part 1; Angle BAE has a bisector)

Statement Reason
1. Angle BAE - Given
2. Let C be a part of ray such that AB = AC - Point Plotting Theorem
3. Let D be the midpoint of segment BC - Every Segment has exactly one midpoint
4. BD = CD - Definition of Midpoint
5. AD = AD - Reflection Property of Equality
6. Triangle ABD is congruent to Triangle ACD - SSS Postulate
7. Angle BAD is congruent to Angle CAD - CPCTC
8. Ray AD bisects Angle BAC - Definition of Angle Bisector
Part 2 (Angle BAE has only one bisector)

Let k = Measure Angle BAD = Measure Angle CAD

1. k + k = Measure Angle BAC - Angle Addition Postulate
2. 2k = Measure Angle BAC - Addition Property of Equality
3. k = 1/2 Measure Angle BAC - Multiplication Property of Equality
4. Ray AD is the only bisector of Angle BAC - Angle Construction Postulate
A segment is an angle bisector if (1) it lies in the ray which bisects an angle of a
triangle, and (2) its end points are the vertex of the angle and a point of the opposite
side.
In triangle ABC, if segment AD is an angle bisector at A, then angle BAD is
congruent to angle CAD.
Reason: Definition of Angle Bisector of a Triangle

A median of a triangle is a segment whose end points are a vertex of the triangle and
the midpoint of the opposite side.
In triangle ABC, if segment BD is a median to segment AC, then AD = DC
Reason: Definition of Median
An altitude of a triangle is a perpendicular segment from a vertex of the
triangle to the line containing the opposite side.
In triangle ABC, if segment BD is an altitude of a triangle to
segment AC, segment BD is perpendicular to segment AC, making Angle
BDA and Angle BDC right
Reason: Definition of Altitude of a Triangle

The perpendicular bisector of the sides of a triangle is a segment

perpendicular to the side of a triangle at its midpoint.

In triangle ABC, segment ED is the segment perpendicular

to the side of a triangle at its midpoint. Then AD = DB
Reason: Definition of Perpendicular Bisector of the side of
a triangle,
1.) Centroid - Points of Concurrency of the three medians of a
triangle. It is the center of gravity of a triangle.

2.) Orthocenter - Points of Concurrency of the three altitudes of a

triangle

3.) Incenter - Points of Concurrency of the three angle bisectors of

a triangle. They are concurrent at a point equidistant from the
sides. It is the center of the inscribed circle.

4.) Circumcenter - Points of Concurrency of the three perpendicular

bisectors of a triangle. It is equidistant from the vertices of the
triangle. It is the center of the circumscribed circle.

Leonard Euler proved in 1765 that for any triangle, three of the four points of
concurrency are collinear. The line that contains these three points is known as
Euler’s Line. The incenter is excluded.
Perpendicular Bisector- Hi! I am a line that cuts a segment of the
triangle into two. The two cut segments are also the same
measure. For example: Cutting a bamboo exactly into two with the
same measures.

if a point is on me, the perpendicular bisector of a segment, then

all the points located on me are equidistant from the segment's
endpoints. For example, the holes of a bamboo are equidistant to
the holes of another bamboo’s 2 end holes
Converse Perpendicular Bisector Theorem

If a one point is equidistant from the endpoints of

a segment, then it is on me, the perpendicular
bisector of the segment.
