STATUS REPORT

Diocesan Progress

1. About 160 ±4 dioceses are currently working


on the V Encuentro process (90% participation)
2. 30 have completed their Diocesan Encuentro,
but none have yet sent in their final reports
3. 69 additional dioceses have sent us the date
for their Diocesan Encuentro

1. 98 dioceses have registered to use the online


consultation submission tool (about 61%)
2. 38 dioceses had 29 or fewer online form
submissions, indicating that they have not
been using the system very much
3. In total, 42,144 forms had been submitted,
including 4,889 from one standout diocese

Purpose of the
Survey
Goal: To measure the early impact and document
the first fruits of the V Encuentro process at the
national level
• Impact on diocesan staffing

• Changes in the attitudes and perceptions of pastoral leaders

• Participation and reach of the formative and missionary actions

• Use of media (new and old) and digital tools


Process of the
Survey
1. A SurveyMonkey tool was created with 40
questions on 9 pages, English & Spanish
2. Invitation emails were sent to 194 Diocesan
Chairs in our database, and three waves of
reminders were sent
3. People responding by June 1 were eligible for
a prize of 50 copies of the Pocket Gospels
4. All others will receive 10 copies.

• Responses collected: 177


• Consolidated duplicates: 31
• Incomplete responses from unknown
dioceses: 3 (counted as duplicates)

are working as a team, dedicating time and
resources, to support and accompany military
young adults and families.

Leaders’ Attitudes

• Dioceses reported an increased awareness of


the presence and needs of Hispanic Catholics
among the priests and diocesan staff
• Dioceses described major improvements in the
attitudes and concern for Hispanic Catholics,
including greater engagement of the Bishop
• Dioceses saw new pastoral initiatives evolving
and nearly all experienced collaboration with
other diocesan offices, especially Catechesis/
Evangelization and Youth & Young Adult Min.

to talk about how to deeply integrate the
Hispanic Community into the life of the parish,
especially by forming Hispanic leaders.

“ People who were alienated from the parish have come closer.
People who have never led a group, now feel a desire to share
their gifts. The communities and leaders with more experience


are realizing that there is great potential in individuals who
they have never considered or really seen before.
