Chapter I
Introduction
A. Background

Stunting is a problem of chronic malnutrition caused by lack of

nutrition in a long time due to the provision of food that does not
comply with the nutritional needs. Malnutrition at an early age
increases the mortality rate of infants and children, causing the
sufferer to get sick and have no maximum posture as adults.
Cognitive abilities of the patients was also reduced, resulting in
long-term economic losses for Indonesia.
Based on the data obtained from the monitoring nutritional
data status and nutritional performance indicators in 2015
that the percentage of children under 24-59 months age
shorter in West Java by 25.2%, and the percentage of
children under extremely short at 9.9%. Stunting in
Puskesmas Cibeureum ranks first in the case stunting
children in Cimahi City with a percentage of 23% of all cases
stunting and very stunting in the Health Office Cimahi City.
The Purpose
 General Purpose : to know the Related Incidence
Factors of stunting in children aged 24-59 months
in Puskesmas Cibeureum Cimahi in 2016
 Spesial Purpose :
 To Know the description of exclusive breast
feeding, the age of weaning, zinc intake, mother
heigh and a history of primary immunization in
infants aged 24 to 59 months in Puskesmas
Cibeureum Cimahi 2016.
To know the relationship between exclusive
breast feeding with the incidence of stunting
in children aged 24-59 months in Puskesmas
Cibeureum Cimahi 2016.
To know the relationship between the age of
weaning, with the incidence of stunting in
children aged 24-59 months in Puskesmas
Cibeureum Cimahi 2016
To know the relationship between zinc intake
with the incidence of stunting in children aged
24-59 months in Puskesmas Cibeureum
Cimahi 2016.
To know the relationship between mother
height with the incidence of stunting in
children aged 24-59 months in Puskesmas
Cibeureum Cimahi 2016.
To know the relationship between basic
immunization history with the incidence of
stunting in children aged 24-59 months in
Puskesmas Cibeureum Cimahi 2016

Discussion

Stunting is a condition in which the

body is short and very short, beyond the
-2SD deficit below the median length or
height based on the WHO international
reference-Antro 2005

3. Research Hypothesis

Ho : No correlation

Ha : There is a correlation
B. Population and samples

1. Population

The population in this study were all children aged 24-

59 months stunting in Puskesmas Cibeureum Cimahi
during 2015 as many as 948 people.

2. Samples

a. Inclusion Criteria
1) Children aged 24-59 years in Puskesmas Cibeureum
2) Have KMS
b. Exclusion Criteria
Children who don’t have a KMS feared to be biased
because filling out the questionnaire complete basic
immunization only by the memory of the mother
respondents.

Results of research and discussion

2. Analysis Univariat

From total 91 respondents obtained 72.5% were stunted.

Respondents were not given exclusive breastfeeding was
48.4%, respondents were age-wean <24 months was
65.9%, the majority of respondents who zink intake <AKG
was 74.7%, respondents who have a mother with short
height was 56%, and respondents were immunized
essentially incomplete was 16.5%.
Analysis Bivariat
1.There was a significant relationship
between a history of exclusive
breastfeeding with the incidence of
stunting in children aged 24-59 months
with p value = 0.031.
2.There is a significant relationship
between the age of weaning, with the
incidence of stunting in children aged
24-59 months with p value = 0.014.
3.There was a significant relationship
between zinc intake with the incidence
of stunting in children aged 24-59
months with p value = 0.024.
Next..
1.There was no significant relationship
between height mother with the
incidence of stunting in children aged
24-59 months with p value = 1.000.
2.There is no significant relationship
between the basic immunization history
with the incidence of stunting in
children aged 24-59 months p value =
1.000.
Suggestion
a. Puskesmas Cibeureum need to direct the birth midwives,
maternity nurses in their working areas to provide training
to pregnant women and lactating accompany first time
breastfeeding mothers to improve practice skills in
breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding increasing
coverage.
b. Need to increase the promotion of one of them through
education about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding,
weaning age and the importance of eating food zink sources
. Counseling can be done by holders of nutrition programs
at the health center in collaboration with the cadres.
c. Increase promotion of complementary feeding of food
sources of zinc.
Suggestion for Other researchers

Examine other factors cause stunting which has not

been examined by researchers including namely history of infectious
diseases and TB mother need find out the factors that affect
the mother.
