LEADERSHIP
The activity of leading a group of people or an organization or the ability
to do this.

Leadership Involves
 establishing a clear vision,
 sharing that vision with others so that they will follow willingly,
 providing the information, knowledge and methods to realize that vision,
 coordinating and balancing the conflicting interests of all members and
stakeholders.

MANAGER LEADEAR
The manager is the classic good  The leader is his or her own
soldier person.
 The manager maintains  The leader develops.
 The manager administers  The leader is an original.

Origin of leadership
The Origin of Word “leadership” is a combination of word
“Leader” which means a person to show way and the suffix “-
ship” which denotes having a characteristics of something.
It was first use in 1821 as a noun to describe those who are
Incharge of a group.
The Following line uses the word Leadership in all ways
“ The Organization’s leadership consists of the leadership
team, which has wonderful leadership skills”
Qualities of a Leadership
A leader must possess the following qualities
1)The Leader must be Honest
2)The Leader has an ability to delegate his vision.
3)He or she must have a good communication skills.
4)A leader must have a good sense of humor.
5)A leader must be confident.
6)A leader must behave ethical and having positive attitude.
7)A leader must have a creative mind and has an ability to inspire others.
TYPES OF LEADERSHIP
1.Charismatic Leadership:
•A Charismatic Leader has a very effective personality.
•He is full of energy and passion and by using that energy he
will motivate others.

2. Innovative Leadership
 An Innovative leader thinks beyond the situation.
 He or she gets Job satisfaction and enjoy it.
 He welcomes new ideas from other people.
 Risk taking factor is at its extreme

3. Command and control Leadership


This type of leadership is generally used in armed forces
where they have to maintain strictness.
The leader is a sole decision maker in this leadership
Team members feel restricted environment

4. Laissez-Faire ( Capitalism )
 A laissez-faire leader lacks direct supervision of employees and fails to
provide regular feedback to those under his supervision.

 This leadership style hinders the production of employees needing


supervision.

 It can lead to poor production, lack of control and increasing costs.

5. Pace setter

•Sets high performance standards for self and the group

•It is generally adopted when staff are self-motivated and highly


skilled, able to embrace new projects and move with speed

•This type cannot be sustained too long, as staff may "burn out"
from demanding pace

6. Servant leadership
 Puts service to others before self-interest
 Includes the whole team in decision making
 Provides tools to get the job done
 This type of leadership can create a positive culture and
lead to high morale

7. Situational Leadership
 It works where ongoing procedures need refinement,
reinvention, or retirement.
 It can confuse members if behavior changes
unpredictably and too often.

5- Transformational Leaders
 The transformational leadership style depends on high levels of
communication from management to meet goals.

 Leaders motivate employees and enhance productivity and efficiency


through communication and high visibility.

 Leaders focus on the big picture within an organization and delegate


smaller tasks to the team to accomplish goals.
Theories of leadership
1. Great man theory (This theory say that Leader are born with
necessary internal characteristics)
2. Trait Theory ( This theory assume that people inherit certain
qualities and traits that make them better suited to leadership)
3. Contingency Theory. ( According to this theory, no leadership style
is best in all situations. Success depends upon a number of
variables, including the leadership style, qualities of the followers
and aspects of the situation)
4. Situational Theory ( Different styles of leadership may be more
appropriate for certain types of decision-making)

5. Behavioral Theory (Behavioral theories of leadership are based upon the
belief that great leaders are made, not born )
6. Participative Theories (Participative leadership theories suggest that the
ideal leadership style is one that takes the input of others into account)
7. Management Theories (Management theories, also known
as transactional theories, focus on the role of supervision, organization and
group performance)
8. Relationship Theories (Relationship theories, also known as
transformational theories, focus upon the connections formed between
leaders and followers
