What is Indian Jail Bazaar? 2

 The project “Indian Jail Bazaar” is a web

based application system for selling the
products manufactured by jail prisoners via
internet. Indian Prisons Authority wanted to sell
the products to a bigger domain for that they
requested NIC to sell their products through
internet by creating a website. NIC has
developed an ecommerce website for the
Jail Factory.

The Jail Factory complexes are situated in the

Central Jail’s all over the country where the jails
are training and employing almost 1.5 lakh
convicts at any given time. This has been
modernized keeping in view today's
industrialization and prison needs. It is the
governments endeavor to employ all the
convicts and willing under trials in the Jail factory
or the small manufacturing units spread over
other Jails. This employment does not only
provide financial support to inmates but also acts
as a training and rehabilitation institution and
helps the Administration in maintaining peace in
the Jail Complex.
Objectives 4

 Objective of the project work to develop an online shopping mechanism where

authorities can log in and enter product manufactured related information online.
 To create admin at three levels i.e. NIC admin, State admin, Jail admin.
 To provide online catalog of products with their photographs.
 To provide the facility to admin to see the order details and fulfill the orders.
 To assign new jail or state users.
 To divide the online catalog into state, district, jail, department, categories,
products.
 To provide the product related information to the user and giving them an option
to buy the products
 To ensure security of application. The user and admin information should be
secured.
 To provide the search facility to provide the products available in catalog.
 To allow the customer to add the product to shopping cart, edit the shopping cart
and to add his personal information to the user account.
 To allow the user to make payment through demand draft or credit card.

 The products of Jail factory not only meet the
consumption requirements of the Jail’s but are
also sold to other Government Departments
and in the open market, due to their very
good quality and competitive prices.
 Indian Prisons Authority will be able to sell the
products to a bigger domain to sell their
products through internet by creating a
website.
 A complete eCommerce website supporting
all the general features of ecommerce. This is
a dynamic website providing all the
functionality of the virtual buy and sell
operations.

 Planning for 7th semester:

In 7th semester, all the necessary user interfaces will
be designed which includes Login page,
ProductDetails page, Categories page,
OrderDetails page, Checkout page, ShoppingCart
page etc. These pages will be designed using
ASP.NET. And database will be created in SQL
Server.

 Planning for 8th semester:

In 8th semester, all the above functionalities will be
implemented in the software.
