 3 CUISINE
• Indonesians distinctive cuisine has been
derived from centuries with the influence of
the Chinese, European, Middle Eastern and
the Indians.
• The staple food of most Indonesian dishes is
rice served with meat and vegetables. Spices,
notably chili, and coconut milk are
fundamental ingredients in most of the dishes,
especially fish and chicken.

• Indonesia's forests are being
degraded and destroyed by
logging, mining operations.
• Between 1990 and 2005 the
country lost more than 28
million hectares of forest,
including 21.7 hectares of
virgin forest.
• After 1990s, deforestation
rates of primary forest have
climbed 26 percent. Today
Indonesia's forests are some
of the most threatened on
the planet.
 Over the past few years,
huge areas of forest have
been converted for oil-palm
plantations.

The fastest and cheapest way to clear new land for

plantations is by burning. Every year hundreds of
thousands of acres hectares go up in smoke. The fires
also produced wide-ranging and severe economic,
political, social, health, and ecological damage to
Indonesia.
 Solution

• Indonesia has started charging consumers for

plastic bags, in a move aimed at cleaning up
the environment and cutting waste in one of
the world’s worst plastic polluters.
• Prevention is better than cure. The solution is
fire prevention, not fighting fire.
• Companies must halt forest and peatland
clearance, start restoring forest and peatlands
and demand the same of their suppliers.

• Indonesia is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where raging weather

phenomena are usually happen, such as tsunami, earthquakes or
volcano eruption. The country is consist of thousands of island, so
when natural disaster comes, it is difficult to deal with it. In 2015,
376 natural triggered disasters were registered , with $159.7 billion
damage on the economy.
• Indonesia has over 300 ethnic groups and 742 different dialects
(World atlas, 2017). The differences between each group has raise
conflicts and leads to some serious events.
