CHILD LABOUR ACT

• The Act came in force from 23rd December,1986


• An Act to prohibit the engagement of children
in certain employments and to regulate the
conditions of work of children in certain other
employment.
• Prohibition of employment of children in
certain occupations and processes

• No child shall be employed or permitted to


work in :

• Transport, Catering or Construction by


railways.
• Firecracker Shop.
• Slaughter House.
• Automobile Workshop/garages
• Handloom
• Mines
• Plastic units and fibreglass workshop
• Domestic servants
• Tea shops, resorts, spas or other recreational
Causes of Child Labour

• Poverty
• Over Population
• Unemployment of elders
• Children are cheap source of labour
• Parental Illiteracy
• Existing laws or codes of conduct are often
violated
• Worker’s rights are repressed
National Child Labour

• Constitutional and legislative provisions
