Qualification Methods

 Welding a test coupon (150 mm length of weld)

- Passing either visual & mechanical test or
- Radiographic examination ( not applicable for GMAW
welding with short circuiting transfer)
- Failure in 1st attempt requires two test coupons for retest

 1st Production weld

- Radiographic examination ( not applicable for GMAW
welding with short circuiting transfer)
- Failure in 1st production joint will lead to radiographic
examination of the complete joint & repairing it.
- retest will require two consecutive production joint
welded.
