 WHAT IS FABRICATION ?
* Fabrication is the building of metal structures
by cutting, bending, and assembling processes.
* It is a value added process that involves the
creation of machine, parts and structures from
various raw materials.
TYPES OF MACHINES
1] ROLLING MACHINE
* “ A Rolling Machine is a machine that will roll different
kinds of metal sheet into a round or conical shape. It can be also
called a roll bending machine, plate bending machine, or rolling
machine.”
* There are two types of rolling machines.
* Four roller bending machine and three roller bending
machine.
* The three-roll variable pitch works by having all three rolls
able to move and tilt. The top roll moves in the vertical plane
and the side rolls move on the horizontal plane.

 2] WELDING MACHINE
* “ Welding is a way of heating pieces of metal using
electricity or a flame so that they melt and stick
together and the machine which is used for welding is
known as welding machine.”
* There are many kinds of welding, including arc
welding, resistance welding, and gas welding.
 3] LATHE MACHINE
* Lathe is one of the most versatile and widely used
machine tools all over the world.
* A lathe machine is a machine tool which is used to
remove metals from a workpiece to give a desired
shape and size.
* In other words it is a machine that is used to hold
the workpiece to perform various metal removing
operations such as turning, grooving, chamfering,
knurling, facing, forming etc. with the help of tools.
* It is also called as the mother of all machines.

4] MACHINE PRESS
*A machine press is basically a machine tool which is used to
change the shape of a workpiece by application of pressure.
* There are three types of machine press
* Mechanical press, hydraulic press, pneumatic press.
* Mechanical press is used for cutting workpiece in the
desired shape. When compared to hydraulic and pneumatic ,
mechanical press is a faster process.
* Hydraulic presses are generally slower relative to other
press machine type. This involves longer contact with work.
* A pneumatic press derives its primary mechanical action
(such as shearing, punching, bending, forming, drawing,
extruding, assembly, or other action) from a pressure source by
means of compressed air.

RING SPACER
* Ring Spacer is made from a metal ring in a different
type of material, with a welded handle (in a different
form).
* The Spacer function is to allow the passage of the
fluid (or gas) in the line through flanges.
* The materials used for making a ring spacer are
carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, titanium etc.

CLUTCH PLATE
* A clutch is a mechanical device which engages and
disengages power transmission especially from driving
shaft to driven shaft.
* In the simplest application, clutches connect and
disconnect two rotating.
* In these devices, one shaft is typically attached to
an engine or other power unit while the other shaft
provides output power for work.

 PAN SUPPORT AIR
* Pan support air is the most commonly used kitchen
appliance.
* It is mostly placed above the stove burner, it gives
support to the cooking vessel and it acts as a stand for
the cooking vessel to give support and to make cooking
easy.
* The material which is used for making a oan
support is cast iron.
COVER HOUSING
* A cover housing also called as banjo-type axle
housing.
* A cover housing is used in heavy duty vehicle.
* It is placed at the center of the axle house of a
vehicle.
• * My main goals for doing internship in “peenya fine comp” were to increase my
technical knowledge and also enhance my communication skills.
• * The topic which I got was “fabrication work”.
• * On my first day at PFC it was the most memorable days of my time at work, I
was introduced to my trainer and the first task which I got was to measure the
dimensions of a clutch plate. They were very open and happy for me to contribute
as much as I wanted to, and were open to any suggestions and ideas. This instantly
made me feel comfortable and definitely made me feel as though I was part of the
team.
• * Another valuable lesson I have learned during these 4 weeks, were the many
different types of work an Engineer has to perform, which in turn, have provided
me with more insight into the different types of roles and responsibilities that I
could perform, as a mechanical engineer.
• * I have worked on different types of machines such as welding machine, lathe
machine, machine press and rolling machine and I learned different operations
that can be performed on these machines.
• * Another important lesson that I’ve learned by seeing the staff was discipline
and punctuality. I observed that the workers were on time at work and were also
following all the rules and regulations which were provided by the company.
• * The task which I performed was making of clutch plate, cover housing, pan
support and ring spacer.
