CHAPTER 2:

RESPIRATION

2.1 human respiratory system

what is Respiration?
2.1 HUMAN RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
• Breathing is the process that brings in the oxygen (inhaling) that the
body so desperately needs and brings out carbon dioxides
(exhaling)from the body.

• The system in the body that helps us to breath is

Alveoli
Trachea:
* Strong, muscular air tube,
* Leads air into lung.
Nose:
* Always moist, Bronchi:
* Has fine hairs, *Singular:

*Surrounded by

capillaries.
Rib muscle:
*Also known as
intercostal muscle,
*Contraction and
relaxation causes
the ribs to move
upwards or
downwards,
*Causes chest
cavity (thoracic
cavity) to expand
Ribs: or contract,
* Protect the lungs. allowing inhalation
and exhalation.
