TRISTAN MEETS ISOLDE

Chapter 1
 When our story begins, King Anguish is the king of
Ireland...
Quando nossa história começa, Rei Anguish é o
rei da Irlanda...

And King Mark is the king of Cornwall.

E Rei Marcos é o rei de Cornualha.

Ireland is a bigger country than Cornwall...

Irlanda é um país maior que Cornualha ...
 And so every year King Mark must give money to
King Anguish’s brother, Morold, and his men.
E assim todo ano o Rei Marcos deve dar dinheiro
ao irmão do rei Anguish, Morold, e seus homens.
One year, King Mark is late with the money.
Um ano, o rei Marcos se atrasa com o dinheiro.
Morold is angry when he comes to Cornwall for it.
Morold fica com raiva quando ele vem para a
Cornualha para isso.
‘The money for my brother is late.’ he says. ‘So this
year you must pay more’.
"O dinheiro para o meu irmão está atrasado", ele
diz. "Então, este ano você deve pagar mais".

Tristan, King Mark’s nephew, is angry with Morold.

Tristão, sobrinho do rei Marcos, fica zangado com
Morold.
 ‘ You must fight me, ’ he says , before you can take
the money.’
"Você deve lutar comigo", ele diz , "antes que você
possa pegar o dinheiro".

Morold fights Tristan. Morold’s sword has poison on

it... but Tristan kills him.

Morold luta contra Tristão. A espada de Morold tem

veneno ... Entretanto, Tristão o mata.
 Morold’s men take his dead body home. Now
Cornwall and Ireland are at war.
Os homens de Morold levam seu cadáver para casa.
Agora Cornualha e Irlanda estão em guerra.
Tristan’s wound does not get better. His servant
Kurvenal puts him in a boat and they go to look for
help.
A ferida de Tristão não melhora. Seu servo
Kurvenal o coloca em um barco e eles vão procurar
ajuda.
They go across the sea to Ireland. There, Tristan
meets Isolde, the daughter of King Anguish.
Eles atravessam o mar para a Irlanda. Lá, Tristão
conhece Isolda, a filha do rei Anguish.

‘What’s your name?’ she asks. He doesn’t give his

true name to her.’Tramtris,’ he says.
"Qual é o seu nome?", Ela pergunta. Ele não dá
seu nome verdadeiro a ela. "Tramtris", ele diz.
 When Isolde sees Tristan’s wound she wants to
help him.
Quando Isolda vê a ferida de Tristão, ela quer
ajudá-lo.
‘Drink this,’ she says, and she gives him a potion.
"Beba isso", ela diz, e ela lhe dá uma porção.
With her potions, Isolde makes Tristan better. At
the same time, they fall in love.
Com suas porções, Isolda faz Tristão se sentir
melhor. Ao mesmo tempo, eles se apaixonam.
 But one day Isolde is looking at Tristan’s sword. A
little piece of it is missing.
Mas um dia Isolda fica olhando para a espada de
Tristão. Um pequeno pedaço dela está faltando.
She goes and finds a little piece of a sword. It
comes from her uncle Morold’s dead body. It is the
missing piece from Tristan’s sword.
Ela vai e encontra um pequeno pedaço de uma
espada. Vem do corpo morto do tio Morold. É a peça
que faltava da espada de Tristão.
 ‘So he isn’t Tramtris. He’s Tristan – my uncle’s
killer!’ she says.
‘Então ele não é Tramtris. Ele é Tristão, o
assassino do meu tio!’ Ela diz.
At first Isolde is angry. She wants to kill Tristan.
But she’s in love with him. So she says nothing to
her father.
Em princípio, Isolda fica com raiva. Ela quer
matar Tristão. Mas ela está apaixonada por ele.
Então ela não diz nada ao pai dela.
 After some time Tristan goes back to Cornwall.
Depois de algum tempo, Tristão volta para
Cornualha.
There he tells King Mark all about Isolde. ‘She’s
beautiful,’ he says.
Lá ele diz ao rei Marcos tudo sobre Isolda. "Ela é
linda", ele diz.
King Mark wants peace with Ireland.
O rei Marcos quer paz com a Irlanda.
 ‘Tristan,’ he says, ‘I must marry Isolde. Go back to
Ireland and bring her to me.’
"Tristão", diz ele, "eu devo casar com Isolda. Volte
para a Irlanda e a traga para mim.

Tristan goes back to Ireland, but he isn’t happy.

Tristão volta para a Irlanda, mas ele não fica feliz.
 Peace with Ireland is important, but Tristan loves
Isolde, and he wants to marry her. He doesn’t
want to get Isolde for his uncle.

A paz com a Irlanda é importante, mas Tristão

ama Isolda e ele quer se casar com ela. Ele não
quer entregar Isolda ao tio dele.
