How are jobs scheduled?
Two dimensions to scheduling
• Resource usage • Resource Capacity
– How long it takes to perform the operation – As defined and managed by planning
– Represents effort required – Expressed in hours and units
– Expressed in resource units – hours

• Work • 5,75 hrs per shft * 2 shifts = 11,5 hrs

– 0,67 hours/pc * 90 pcs = 60,3 hours – 0700 – 1000
– 1030 – 1315
• Use 5 resource units
– 1315 – 1600
– 60,3 hrs / 5 = 12,06 hrs from start to end
– 12 hrs 3 minutes – 1630 – 1930

12hrs 3min – 11hrs 30min = 33 min

This job is 33 minutes longer than one working day so the

scheduling result is:

12hrs 3min of working time between Start and Completion

Scheduling with multiple
operations

• Forwards from start

• Backwards from end
