RESEARCH PROBLEM
The purpose of this project is to understand how Paytm helped unorganised retail sector during demonetisation
and now after one year is it still able to stay part of the sector’s business dealings.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

1.To identify the major reason / influencer which motivated unorganised retailers to use Paytm
2.To evaluate the number of retailers who used Paytm versus other digital currency
3.To understand after one year time from demonetisation, how many retailers are still using Paytm and how many
got churned out.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research Hypothesis: To evaluate whether Paytm has created positive impact on the monetary transaction of
unorganised retail sector
Research type:In view of objectives of the study listed above a descriptive research design has been adopted.
Descriptive research is one which largely interprets already available information. Study often uses visual aids
such as graphs and charts to aid the reader in understanding the data distribution.
SAMPLE PLAN
1. Unorganized retailers in Mumbai area.
2. Local shopkeepers who includes kirana stores, General stores, Paan/beedi shops, convenience stores,
pavement venders and mobile hawkers
3. Most of these people deals in low cost goods/services

Indian retail industry is no doubt one of the largest and fastest growing industries. Like most developed
countries, India’s growth also relies on growth of its retail industry. India is becoming a dynamic market with
many international brands entering India to capitalize on the growing consumption pattern shown by the
country. With right reforms and government initiatives, India retail industry is surely inching its way towards
becoming the next boom industry. The future of the retail industry looks promising, as more and more
Government policies have come into play, making it favourable to do business
