“I THIRST”

Psalms 69:21 They gave me also gall for my


meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar
to drink.
John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all
things were now accomplished, that the
scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
PROBLEM
1. A cry of the dissatisfied
Exodus 17:3 And the people thirsted there for
water; and the people murmured against
Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou
hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and
our children and our cattle with thirst?
Deuteronomy 29:19 And it come to pass,
when he heareth the words of this curse, that
he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall
have peace, though I walk in the imagination
of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:
2. A cry of the needy
Isaiah 41:17 When the poor and needy seek
water, and there is none, and their tongue
faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I
the God of Israel will not forsake them.
3. A cry of the punished
Deuteronomy 28:48 Therefore shalt thou
serve thine enemies which the LORD shall
send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst,
and in nakedness, and in want of all things:
and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck,
until he have destroyed thee.
Isaiah 5:13 Therefore my people are gone into
captivity, because they have no knowledge:
and their honourable men are famished, and
their multitude dried up with thirst.
Hosea 2:3 Lest I strip her naked, and set her as
in the day that she was born, and make her as
a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and
slay her with thirst.
4. A cry of the suffering
Job 24:11 Which make oil within their walls,
and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.
Lamentations 4:4 The tongue of the sucking
child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for
thirst: the young children ask bread, and no
man breaketh it unto them.
5. A cry of the dying
Amos 8:13 In that day shall the fair virgins and
young men faint for thirst.
Judges 15:18 And he was sore athirst, and
called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given
this great deliverance into the hand of thy
servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall
into the hand of the uncircumcised?
2 Chronicles 32:11 Doth not Hezekiah
persuade you to give over yourselves to die by
famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our
God shall deliver us out of the hand of the
king of Assyria?
Isaiah 50:2 Wherefore, when I came, was
there no man? when I called, was there none
to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it
cannot redeem? or have I no power to
deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea,
I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish
stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth
PROVISION
PROVISION FOR THE THIRSTY
Nehemiah 9:20 Thou gavest also thy good
spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not
thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them
water for their thirst.
Nehemiah 9:15 And gavest them bread
from heaven for their hunger, and
broughtest forth water for them out of the
rock for their thirst, and promisedst them
that they should go in to possess the land
which thou hadst sworn to give them.
THE ONE WHO QUENCHED OUR THIRST
John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all

PROMISE
PROMISE TO THE THIRSTY
Isaiah 49:10 They shall not hunger nor thirst;
neither shall the heat nor sun smite them:
for he that hath mercy on them shall lead
them, even by the springs of water shall he
guide them.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do
hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they
shall be filled.
John 4:13 Jesus answered and said unto her,
Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst
again:
John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the
water that I shall give him shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him shall be in
him a well of water springing up into
everlasting life.
John 4:15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give
me this water, that I thirst not, neither come
hither to draw.
John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the
bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never
hunger; and he that believeth on me shall
never thirst.
Revelation 7:16 They shall hunger no more,
neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun
light on them, nor any heat.
PLEA
A CALL TO THE THIRSTY
Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the
Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land,
not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water,
but of hearing the words of the LORD:
John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the
feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any
man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
PURPOSE
A CALL TO THOSE WHOSE THIRST HAVE
BEEN QUENCHED
Romans 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy
hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink:
for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire
on his head.
1 Corinthians 4:11 Even unto this present
hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are
naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain
dwellingplace;
2 Corinthians 11:27 In weariness and
painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and
thirst, in fastings often, in cold and
nakedness.
CONCLUSION:
Psalms 69:21 They gave me also gall for my
meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar
to drink.
When you hear the cry, “I thirst,”
