1. The importance of Culture in language teaching
• The forms and uses of a given language reflect the
cultural values of the society
• Language learners need to be aware of the culturally
appropriate wyas to communicate successfully
• Student need to be aware of linguistic anf cultural norms
in learning a language
2. Teaching culture without reconceptions
• Cultural information should be presented in a nonjudgmental
fashion
• Kramsch describe “ the third culture” is neutral speace that
learners can create and use to explore and relfect on learners'
and the target culture and language
• Teacher should give clues and background information about
object to learners-> incorporate the new information
• Teachers must allow students to observe and explore cultural
interactions

- Sources: films, newsbroadcasts, television
shows, web sites, photographs, magazines,
newspaper, restaurant, menus, travel
brochures and other printed materials
- Using of authentic materials should be
suited the age and laguange profiency level of
the students

- Students can be presented with objects ( tools, jewelry, images, art,
play, figurines...) that orginate from the target culture
- Student have to find infromation, conduct research, give clues, write a
brief, smmary, make an oral presentation about the item
=> Discuss larger cultural, historical, linguistic factors
=> Using culture capsules must be based on context
