WHY NAGPUR METRO??
• MIHAN (Multi-modal International
Cargo Hub at Nagpur) Project is all
set to give a big boost to the
economic development of the
region in general and the city in
particular by creating employment
potential of at least 2 lakh jobs.
• With the growing economic
activity, it is necessary to plan for
the infrastructure development so
as to support the growth of the
city.
• One of the major impacts of
economic development will be
increased traffic on the city roads.
• When completed, MIHAN will be a
self sufficient city where people
will live and work.

DELINEATION OF THE STUDY AREA Project Study Area within 5.0 Km Radius

•It is important for considering intensity of the mobility

and understanding the travel pattern in the city.
• Needs to be assessed with the traffic impact within
the rest of the metropolitan area.
•So NMC area along with the area within outer ring
road is considered for providing various mobility
development schemes.
•The area outside Nagpur Metropolitan Region will be
considered as a part of external zones.
•More over the functional efficiency of the metro
system would depend mainly on the connectivity of
the traffic generators in the catchment area with the
metro stations.

EFFECT OF MIHAN ON PROPOSED METRO RIDERSHIP
•MIHAN will be a self sufficient city where people will live and work.
•40% employees will commute here from Nagpur city.
•It is expected there will be overall 30% commuting of both resident population and due
to employment which will make an impact on the daily ridership of Metro.
There is a need for a safe, reliable, efficient, affordable, commuter
friendly and environmentally sustainable rapid public transport system
for the Nagpur Metro Region.
