Introduction
This project “Library Management System” provides us a simple
interface for maintenance of library information. It can be used
by educational institutes or colleges to maintain the records of
the library easily. Achieving this objective is difficult using a
manual system as the information is scattered, can be
redundant and collecting relevant information may be very time
consuming. All these problems are solved using this project.
Throughout the project the focus has been on presenting
information in an easy and intelligible manner.

Need for this System
In our existing system all the transaction of books are done
manually, So taking more time for a transaction like borrowing a
book or returning a book and also for searching of books.
Another major disadvantage is that to preparing the list of books
borrowed and the available books in the library will take more
time, currently it is doing as a one day process for verifying all
records.
Library management system is a project which aims in
developing a computerized system to maintain all the daily work
of library. The “Library Management System” mainly focuses on
basic operations in a library like adding new member, new
books, and updating new information, searching books and
members and facility to borrow and return books.
Modules of the System

• User -
User is the individual which uses the services of the
Library Management System. A user can issue a book, suggest a
new book, contact the admin.

• Admin –
Admin is the administrator of the Library Management
System. Admin has rights to approve books, edit book data,
delete a user, add a new book.
Categorization of Books
In this Library Management System the books are categorized in
two categories-
• Most Popular Books –
Books that are issued maximum number of times.

• Recent Additions –
Books that are recently added.

A user can also search for a required book and also can go
through the list of all the books present in the database that are
approved by the admin.
Features
• Only a registered user can issue a book.
• Passwords are md5() protected.
• Only user entering right combination of email-id and password
can login.
• Any book can only be issued after logging into the account.
• A user can suggest a book to be made available.
• A user cannot issue a same book more than one time.
• Only the admin can delete any user.
• Suggested books are firstly accepted by the admin to be
published on the website.
• The admin can change description of any book.

• Any user can easily use this application.
• Contact Form appears on scroll of the Contact US page.
