Emily Williams

Hello Parents!
I am your student‘s kindergarten teacher, Ms. Williams. I am
so excited to begin this year and get to know each student! I
know it is going to be a great year with your child and the 24 other
students who will make this class whole.
If there is anything I should know about your child’s learning
style or needs it will help me teach your child better. Please feel
free to email me at any time if you have any questions or
concerns.

Classroom Expectations
◦ Classroom Rules
◦ I only call on quiet students with their hands raised
◦ Stay in your seat unless instructed otherwise
◦ Follow directions
◦ Work and play in a safe manner
◦ I expect you to:
◦ Respect myself, other students, and the classroom
◦ Try your best with everything you do
◦ Listen when others are speaking
Bathroom Routines
◦ We will have set times throughout the day to go to
the bathroom. In the morning after announcements
and morning work, then before lunch, after recess,
and also after snack. The line leader will line up, then I
will call students based on table, shirt color, rug
square, etc. It will vary each day.
◦ I will also allow students to go to the restroom
throughout the day if need be. I will have a sign out
sheet for different areas in case the students need to
go other places. They will carry a card of where they
are going.
Hallway Expectations
◦ Each day we will have a line leader to lead the class to the destination and a
caboose to make sure all the students are in line.
◦ They will walk quietly with their hands by their sides and their feet in one square
next to the wall, but not touching the wall.
◦ The students that are following the hallway expectations will receive a dojo point,
if students end the week with a certain number of dojo points they will be able to
pick a prize from the treasure chest.
Classroom Jobs
◦ At the beginning of class each day
we will rotate the students names
through the chart so that each
students gets a chance to do each
job
◦ New students will be drawn when
other students have gone through the
job chart
Entry/Morning Routine
◦ I will happily greet my students at the
door each morning
◦ They will come in, unpack, put their
homework in the bin and hang up
backpacks and jackets
◦ They will sit at their seat and do the
morning work provided
◦ Before carpet time we will do a
GoNoodle to get their wiggles out
and brains working
Turning In Homework
◦ The students will unpack their backpacks when they arrive
◦ They will put their homework in the homework bin that will be placed on a
bench under my white board
Snacks/Water/Rest/etc.
◦ Students will put their snacks and water
bottles in a basket on a table on the side
of the room. The baskets will correspond
to each table.
◦ I will have a snack monitor each day to
take the basket to the correct table.
◦ The students will have their snack in the
afternoon. When they are finished they
will throw away the trash.
Getting Attention
◦ I will have a few ways to get the
students attention such as hocus pocus
everybody focus, holy moly
guacamole, and more.
◦ I will also clap and have the students
repeat the sequence
Classroom Library
◦ I will have a classroom library
sorted by genre
◦ I will happily encourage my
students to borrow books from my
classroom library so that they can
read
◦ There will be a checkout list at my
desk if the students would like to
take a book home to read
End of Day/Dismissal Routines
◦ The last 15 minutes of class is the time for
clean up and pack up
◦ The students will put away the work and
materials on their desk
◦ They will put the take home folder in their
backpack and place the backpack in
their chair
◦ Then they will come to the carpet where I
will read a book until dismissal
