2
The Current Situation
The SCSD is committed to providing the most effective and
appropriate Special Education services for all students with
disabilities. We must realign and redesign programs to meet
Situation the needs of all students

Data shows that students in Special Education are not

making consistent academic gains in math and reading.
Students with disabilities are being moved out of home
Challenge schools or choice schools due to inequitable programming
across the District.

The Special Education department is committed to making

programmatic changes to ensure that students are receiving
Opportunity services as outlined in a current, compliant IEP. We are
committed to program equity across SCSD.
