 Ethics is the branch of philosophy that
focuses on morality and the way in which
moral principles are applied to everyday life.
 Ethics has to do with fundamental q’s such as
What is fair?, What is the right way to do in
this situation?
 Ethics is the study of moral decisions that are
made by us in the course of performance of
of our duties .
 It is also known as CORPORATE ETHICS.

 “BUSINESS ETHICS” is the study of business


situations ,activities, and decisions where
issues of right and wrong are addressed.

 Ethical dilemmas are the situation in which
there is conflict between two or more moral
values and principles.

 The moral agent(you) have to choose one of


the ethical principle and give up the other...

 In short ,ethical dilemma is all about choices


between right and right.
 Mr XYZ is the CEO of pharmaceutical co.,his r&d
department formed chemical molecule while
experimenting ,that molecule containing the
possibility of curing from a rare life threatening
genetic diseases that afflicts only one child in
10millions.
But to develop this kind of drug his co, has to
invest huge sum of shareholder’s money
,despite the drug not having wide liability . so
the above case classical case of business ethical
dilemma, under this situation Mr. XYZ has to
choose b/w carrying on the development of drug
for painful & life threatening disease which afflict
Only one child in 10 million of population & the
action of spending huge sum of shareholders
money for such development.
 Define the problem clearly
 How to define the problem if you stood on
the other side of the fence?
 How did the situation arise?
 To whom you are loyal as a person &
member of organisation?
 What is your intention in making this
decision ?
 Whom could your decision injury?
 What is the potential outcome if your
decision in understood or misunderstood?
As both positive and ethically
right choices as a social
person. He has to think in
terms of eliminating serious
illness at the same time where
as he must be careful in
dealing with shareholder’s
money .
