PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

Present perfect tense is a form that use to express
an action or situation that has begun in the past
and still continues until now or has been
completed at a certain point in time in the past but
the effect still continues.
The present perfect tense is formed by auxiliary verb (have
or has) and past participle (verb 3). Have for I and you, and
prular subject such as prular pronoun (they and we), plural
noun (boys and men) and compound subject “and”
conjunction (you and I) while “has” for singular subject
such as: third person singular pronoun (he, she, it) and
singular noun (Tom, man).

Positive sentence (+) I have read the message.


subject+(have/has)+past participle (verb 3) He has left.

Negative sentence (-) I have not read the message.


Subject+(have/has)+not+past participle He hasn’t left.
(verb 3)

Introgative sentence (?) Have i read the message?


Have/has+subject+past participle (verb 3) Has he left?

Positive sentence (+) She has been in school now.

Negative sentence (-) She has not been in school now.

TIME EXPRESSIONS ON PRESENT PERFECT
TENSE

There is few time expression which can be use on present perfect tense.
Time expression Example
•Already (sudah) We haven’t seen Dimas
•Just (baru saja) recently.
•Lately, recently(belum lama ini)
•Ever (pernah)
•Yet (masih) Nicko hasn’t received the
•For+ period of time up to present: for an hour (selama document yet.

•since+starting time: since yesterday (sejak kemarin), We haven’t seen Dimas for

February.
FUNGSI KALIMAT PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

1. The present perfect tense for expressing events in the past no matter when it
happens. Ex: I have read the book.
2. The present perfect tense show that an action occurs repeatedly in the past (the
adverb of number can be used). Ex: She has called you three times.
3. The present perfect tense for expressing activities or situations that began in the
past then continues until now (unfinished). Ex: I have lived in Cilegon for three
months.
4. The present perfect tense discuss recent events. Adverb "recently" and lately "(=
not long ago) can be used. Ex: have you visited any market recently?
5. The present perfect tense discuss the event that just happened. Adverb "just" (=
very recently) can be used. Ex: I have just sent you an email.
EXERCISE

1. Saya sudah memperbaiki mobil ini tiga kali, tetapi tidak ada perubahan.
2. Umma sudah menonton film itu siang ini.
3. Dia sudah menjadi seorang Ibu.
