HOW TO SUCCEED FIRST YEAR

University, a new environment where you’re left to make all the decisions. You are heading into University and
unless you're a strange breed of genius, you are not getting away with anything. It's unfortunate and it might
bruise your ego a bit, but it's the reality. The sooner you accept it, the smaller the blow to your GPA will be. The
key to succeeding first year of university without having a mental breakdown during exams is to do the work
consistently. Figure out what works best for you. Whether you prefer working by yourself or in a group, or if you
are going to skip up class or not are the kind of choices you make. Raise your hand in class, go to office hours
and minimise midnight breakdowns while you study. Do the things that will keep you happy and healthy, not just
your course work. There is a time to focus and study really hard but there is also a time where you have to allow
yourself to be free. Balance. Trust yourself enough to know what's right for you. Pursue what you like because
that's what you'll be doing for just about ever. Most importantly take the chance to reach out and make new
friends, you are no longer in high school with your squad. You are now in lectures that consist over a thousand
students all aiming towards the same dream as you. Surround yourself with the right people who hopes for your
success more than you do and you are sure to pass first year with a bliss.

WHY UNIVERSITY?

You are going to do great things, University gives you the chance to grow,
mature and become independent because sometimes there is no support system
just you and your hard work. Education allows you to make changes, allows you
to travel the world and share your knowledge. Getting a degree is only words
on paper. You can only change the world if you are out in the world, changing
it. Go to university because learning is something your passionate about,
because learning new things and ideas excites you, because you believe that
education in University is important for its own sake.
