What can you observe on the physical appearance of
a keyboard?

-typically it contains keys for individual letters, numbers and special


characters, as well as keys for specific functions.

- There are actually three different PC keyboards: the
original PC keyboard with 84 keys, the AT keyboard
also with 84 keys and the enhanced keyboard with 101
keys.

Goal of Keyboarding

• To increase the speed and accuracy in typing.


 In keyboarding, it means the measure
of a person's typing speed.

 Although touch typists range from 50


to 80 WPM (Words Per Minute), very
fast typists attain 100 or more.
 Accuracy refers to a lack of mistakes or
errors.

 The average accuracy for a typist


is around 92%, meaning they make 8
mistakes for every 100 words typed.
The desired accuracy for professional
typing positions is around 97% or
higher.
Proper Keyboarding
Techniques
1. Proper Posture
Body Positioning:

- Sit up straight
- Back against the chair
- Feet flat on the floor
- Eyes level on the monitor
- Do not lean from side to side
- Neck should not be bent
Body Positioning:

- elbows hanging naturally


resting at side
- upper arms and forearms
should form right angle.
- body centered at the keyboard
Correct Wrist,
Hand & Finger Position:

- wrists off the keyboard


- fingers curved and upright
Correct finger on the assigned keys:
Fingers are on the home-row keys.
