4. EXHIBITION
• ruru gallery, The 200m2 GSE Gallery becomes the main showroom for
mediating, and promotes the works of interdisciplinary artists,
designers, and creative practitioners. The works shown includes wide
range of visual arts expression such as; installation, media arts,
photography, painting, drawing, prints, media art, archive, object,
sculpture, performance art, mural, graffiti, and art merchandise. Since
2007-2016. Total audience 7.000 people
5. ONLINE MEDIA
Online media is part of our communication strategy on knowledge distribution, and give an
alternative view than the mainstream media.
• RURU Radio (since 2010), contemporary streaming internet radio. Total followers in Instagram
14.200, total audience for music concert around 10.000;
• Karbon Journal, started from print media in 2000 and switched media to online in 2007. Focused
on research and writing about urban phenomenon, youth and visual culture. Total audience
monthly around 500-700 (website visit)
6. AUDIO VISUAL
Due to the lack on independent screening spaces in Jakarta, GSE provides a space for independent
screening of films that might not find audiences in the commercial film scene
• Gerobak Bioskop (mobile cinema) is an infrastructure and media distribution program inspired
by the spirit of ‘layar tancap’ tradition in Indonesia. The cart has been working with 25
communities spread over 10 cities in Indonesia. Audience per screening around 30-100 people
