INTRODUCTION

Ready mix concrete is concrete that is manufactured in a batch plant,

according to a set engineered mix design.
RMC Plant or a batching plant, is a equipment that combines various
ingredients to form concrete.
Details of RMC plant (Mansur) Dharwad :-

• Time of establishment: 2008

• Area of plant: 8 Acres
• Working hours of plant : 24 hours
• Human resource : 300 (workers)
• Production capacity : 500 cubic meter/day
• Average production: 300 cubic meter/day
• Maximum wastage: 0.5 cubic meter/day
• Maintainance cost: 2 Lakhs/year
Equipments required in RMC plant :
1. Storage bin 2. Belt conveyor

3. Storage silos 4. Transit mixer

Flow chart for manufacturing of RMC :
QUALITY CONTROL TESTS :

1. Slump cone test

• In case of a dry sample, slump will be in the range of 25-50 mm
• In case of a wet concrete, the slump may vary from 150-175mm

2. Compressive strength of concrete:

Uses of RMC :
• It is used in the construction of bridge, dam etc.
• It is used in the construction of overhead roads, pools, multi stories buildings
etc.
• It can be directly used at the construction site.
• It helps in greater element of automation and precision concrete mixing.
ADVANTAGES OF RMC :
• Quality of concrete
• Speed of construction
• Saving in labour Requirement
• Elimination of Material procurement, requirement and storage hassles
• Reduction in wastage
• Improved life cycle cost
• Eco- Friendly

DISADVANTAGES OF RMC :
• Some sites are just too far away, which can risk that ready mix concrete may
become unusable due to setting.
• It will generate additional road traffic. Generally, Ready mix Trucks are
large in size and may cover lot of area in the road blocking other traffic.
• Concrete’s limited time span between mixing and curing should be placed
within 210 minutes of batching at the plant.
BRTS (BUS RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM) HUBLI-DHARWAD
Hubli-Dharwad BRTS (also called as the METRO BUS) is an
under construction bus rapid transit system being built to serve the twin
cities of Hubli and Dharwad, located in the North-Western part of
Karnataka state in India.
Types of pavements in depot( BRTS)
1. PQC (Plain or Pavement Quality concrete )
2. TREMIX

1. PQC Pavement :
PQC pavements are the cement concrete roads, which are built up with a
top layer of high quality concrete called pavement quality concrete pavement.

Layers of PQC Pavement

1. Subgrade course
 Moorum is selected as subgrade material
 Which is to be compacted in 2 layers
 Thickness varies from 200mm to 300mm.

2. Granular sub base course

 GSB Materials such as natural sand, crushed gravel, crushed stone
 Crushed gravel is used of size 40-60mm and with little quantity of sand mix.
 Thickness of GSB layer is 150mm.

3. Dry Lean Course (DLC Course)

 In DLC Max size of aggregate shall not be more than 20mm.
 Thickness of DLC layer is 150mm.
TREMIX PAVEMENT :
Tremix system is also known as dewatering system used in making
industrial floors, concrete roads, Runways, Railway platforms, warehouse
container yards, canal lining, pathway, bridges, RCC roads, etc

2. PCC (Plain cement concrete)

• Thickness of PCC layer is 100mm.
• M10 grade concrete is used.

3. TREMIX flooring
 1st layer : Its thickness is of 100mm. Which is provided with reinforcement.
And is laid to overall area.
 2nd layer : Thickness of second layer is also 100mm. Which is the top most
layer of the Tremix floor. Which is also provided with the reinforcement as
panels of size 3.5*4.5m.
AGGREGATE PLASTERING :

• Better known as Exposed Aggregate Plaster, this hardy decorative finish can
easily withstand harsh weather conditions. Aggregate Plaster is composed
of a mix of elements cement, coarse aggregates, fine marble powder and
water.
Construction details :

 Before the application of Aggregate plaster, A rough plaster should

be applied
 Aggregates of yellow, black and white colour are used in the ratio of
3:2:1 respectively.
 Size of the aggregates are 4mm or 5mm.
 Thickness of aggregate plastering is about 10mm.
 Water wash should be done after 4 hours.
 Acid wash should be done after 24 hours.
