• Promotion is one of the four components of the
marketing mix (product, price, promotion, and
distribution)
• Traditional view was promotional activities
included advertising, sales promotions, and
personal selling activities
• Now, it also includes activities such as database

marketing, guerrila marketing, alternative
marketing, and public relation
