PLUMBING SANITARY SCOPE OF WORKS

It is the art and Technique of installing pipes, fixtures and other apparatus in the Building for bringing in the supply
of liquids and substances and/ or ingredients and in removing them.
(from the Latin Plumbum for lead, as pipe were once made from lead) is the skilled trade working with pipes, tubing
and plumbing fixtures for drinking water systems and the drainage waste. The Plumbing industry is a basic and
substantial part of every developed economy due to need of clean water, and proper collection and transportation of
waste.
Plumbing also refers to a system of pipes and fixtures installed in a building of potable water and removal of
waterborne waste. Plumbing is usually distinguished from water and sewage system, in that plumbing serves one
building, while water and sewage serve a group of buildings or a city.

WATER SUPPLY AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
MAIN WATER METER – records the volume of water delivered at the building. As a rule of
thumb, the size of the water is usually one size lower than the size of the supply pipe.

METHODOLOGY
 WATERLINE INSTALLATION METHODOLOGY

Installation Procedures
a. Carry out examination of physical site condition of the area for ongoing activities, blockages
of egress, height restrictions feasibility .

b. Check material is approved by the consultant.

c. Ensure materials is properly stored using pipe rack.

d. Ensure safe access to working area.

e. Install necessary scaffoldings and make it safe to use by a certified or qualified person.

f. Prepare and fully sign Work Permit.

FOR PPR PIPE
Methodology of Testing

After completion of the piping installation, have it inspected by Agchem QAQC,

MDC MEPFS Engineer and BV Engineer. In case that there are punch list issued,
have the punch list be closed and seek the approval of the inspector and
prepare for testing.
Visual Inspection
Check that the pipework installed is per approved shop drawing (IFC).
Check the pipe size as per IFC drawing.
Check measurement for on center positions of fixture tapping point (inside toilet)
Check the pipe sleeve and wall penetration are installed.
Check spacing of hanger and support is as per IFC drawing.
Check the plumpness of vertical pipes is as per IFC drawing.
Testing and Commissioning

Pressure Test

All pipe ends shall be plugged and sealed.

Provide an air release valve at the highest portion of the pipe
Fill the pipe line with water using a test pump and build up the pressure in stages.
Bleed the pipe line thru the air release valve to free the system from the air
pocket.
Test pressure shall be 150 psi or 1.5 times the system working pressure.
Allow the pressure to stand for two (2) hours during which time there should be
no drop in test pressure.
In the event of pressure drop, inspect all piping and locate the leak
Repair and re-test until such portion or section satisfactory passed the test.

 THREADING OPERATION / METHOD
1. Make sure that machine and work area is properly set up and that the work area is free of bystanders and

other distractions. The operator should be the only person in the area while the machine is operated.

The cutter, reamer and die head should be up away from the operator, do not place in the operating position.

Make sure they are stable and will not fall. Fully open the chucks of the threading machine.

2. Insert pipe shorter from the front of the machine. Insert longer pipes through either end so that the longer section

extends out beyond the rear of the Threading Machine. Confirm that pipe stand are properly placed.

3. If needed, mark the pipe. Place pipe so that the area to be cut or end to be reamed or threaded is approximate

from the front of the chuck. If closer, the carriage may strike the machine during the threading and damage

the machine.

4. Turn the rear centering device clockwise (viewed from rear of machine) to close down onto pipe. Make sure that the

pipe is centered in the inserts. This improves pipe support and gives better results.

5. Turn the front chuck handwheel counterclockwise(viewed from front of machine) to close down onto pipe. Make sure

that the pipe is centered in the inserts. Use repeated and forceful counterclockwise spins of the handwheel to secure

the pipe in front chuck.

METHODOLOGY
 SANITARY LINE INSTALLATION

Installation Procedures
a. Complete the sanitary lay-out based on the approved IFC plan.
b. Secure the plumbness, sloping and bends of the lay-out before installing. Use level bar for the
checking the plumbness and sloping and check the standard bends for the piping.
c. For gully trap installation, check if all the holes are open and ready for installation of the piping
that will be tapped to gully trap.
d. For piping that will pass through walls, mark the portion where the pipe will pass through, cut
the marked area, use chisel or ball hammer for soft surfaces and chipping gun for hard surfaces.
Provide a one size larger pipe sleeve for the pipes that will pass through the wall. Restore the
chipped wall after the installation.
e. After installing the pipes, provide the hangers and supports. Use hand drill to embed the
support for the hangers. There should be a minimum of 1% and maximum of 2% sloping for
tapping of horizontal piping to vertical or risers.
f. After the completion of the piping, have it inspected by Agchem QAQC, MDC and Bureau
Veritas. In case that there are punchlists issued, have the punchlist be closed and if seek the
approval of the inspectors and prepare for testing.

C. Hydrostatic Testing

a. Cold Water System (Vertical Pipes)

After the completion of a section of the system for every nine floors, it shall be subjected to
hydrostatic testing and proved tight under pressure of at least not less than 150psi above static
pressure for 2 hours. The section of the pipeline shall be filled with water and set the pressure
gauge to the specified test pressure measured at the highest elevation by means of a test pump
connected to the system. There shall be no drop in pressure within the required time duration of
hydro testing.
During the test, all exposed pipes, gate valves and fitting joints will be carefully examined and no
leak has to be found. If defects are found it shall be rectified first and the test shall be done
again.

b. Cold Water System (Lateral Pipes)

After a completion of a section of the system for every floor, same testing procedure will apply
to the cold water line lateral pipes.
