PROCEDURE FOR ELECTRICAL WORKS

1. CONDUIT BOXES IN THE SLAB

Start by carrying out the following

procedures, immediately after completing the
formworks.

1.1 Verify approved plans or drawings of the

boxes to be installed in slab.

Figure 1.1

1.2 Identify the location of boxes for lightings,

convenience outlets and other electrical
systems included in the area based on the
plan.

1.3 Conduct actual measurement per scaled ..
…..drawing for the correct location of the
……boxes.

Figure 1.3

1.4 Have the locations marked by using small

amount of paint.

1.5 Nail the painted junction / square box by
using 3" long common nail.

Figure 1.5
1.6 Ensure that the boxes are properly fixed,
complete with fittings, connector, adapter,
locknut and bushing for EMT or PVC pipes.
Have the head of the nail half-cut for easy
removal after concrete pouring. Fill the box
with used paper or old newspaper to avoid
penetration of concrete inside the box during
concrete pouring.

1.7 Upon completion of rebar, lay-out the
conduit. Fix the conduit EMT or PVC to the boxes
and fittings. Follow lay-outing as indicated in the
plan.

1.8 Check conduit bends. Minimize as much as

possible. Ensure the diameters in bends are
not deformed.

362.26 Bends — Number in One Run

There shall not be more than the equivalent of four quarter
bends (360 degrees total) between pull points, for example,
conduit bodies and boxes

1.9 Avoid running the conduits in the wet areas
like toilets, etc. Fix the conduit in rebar using the
wires.

6.2 Conduit and boxes embedded in columns

6.2.1 Before casting a concrete column,

Verify if there are any provision for switches,
convenience outlet, telephone outlet wall
mounted lighting outlet or any other system
included in the plans or drawings.

FIGURE 6.2.1

6.2.2 If there are any, select the correct type of
boxes for its application and install according
to the mounting heights. Check plumbness and
levelness when installing the box.

Figure 6.2.2

6.2.3 Ensure that the boxes are fixed in contact
with forms when placed. There must be no
space between the box and the forms.
Otherwise the box becomes too deep. Lay-out
the conduit; ensure it will extend up to the top
of the columns forms. Fix the fittings.

partitions.
6.3.1 CHB Walls
When installing box on CHB walls, verify the
mounting heights, distances and the type of box to be
installed. Chip the CHB wall for the correct location of
the box and for lay-outing of the conduit. Check the
boxes plumbness and levelness. Have the proper
coordination for the plastering thickness.
