○ Large recharge time.
○ Lack of charging points.
◉ The heart of an ev is battery, number of problems concerning to the
battery charging can be solved by efficient use of lost energy.
◉ The main losses in a vehicle are,
○ Frictional loss on Brakes : Utilized by Regenerative braking
○ Thermal loss on Battery : Can be utilized by TEG

◉ A Thermoelectric generator(TEG) is a solid state device that converts

heat flux directly into electrical.
◉ When a temperature difference is created across the two surface of
TEG module, potential difference is created.
◉ A unique aspect of thermoelectric energy conversion is that the
direction of energy flow is reversible.
◉ The main reason for selection of TEG is that,
○ High scalability
○ long life
○ stability

Dynamo

◉ A dynamo is an electrical generator that creates direct current from

rotational motion of rotor.
◉ It uses electromagnetism to change some of engine’s mechanical
energy into electrical energy.
◉ Which is used for powering the vehicle’s loads and charging the
battery.

Regenerative Braking

◉ Every time you step on your car's brakes, you're wasting energy.
◉ So when your car slows down, the kinetic energy that was propelling
it forward simply dissipates as heat and becomes useless.
◉ Regenerative braking uses an electric vehicle’s motor as a generator to
convert the kinetic energy lost when decelerating or braking, into
stored energy in the vehicle’s battery.

Solar Powered Vehicle

◉ Solar energy to charge electric vehicle that too solar panels are inbuilt
in the vehicle
◉ So when the car is under sunlight, the solar energy is converted in to
electrical energy.
◉ It’s difficult to charge inbuilt solar panels during rainy season. And it is
the main drawback of the system.
