CHECK LIST TO BE ATTENDED BEFORE DLC LAYING

a) Material Requirement

b) RFI to be raised at least 24 hours before

c) Center Line marking required at median and shoulder side

d) Safety arrangements

e) FRL data cross checked with approved plan & profile

f) String rods, drums, guided wire (at least 500m)

AS PER MORT&H Section 601

GENERAL

The .work shall consist of construction of Dry Lean Concrete sub-base for cement
concrete pavement.
The construction shall be conformity with line, grades and cross sections shown on
drawings or as directed by the Engineer.

MATERIAL TESTING & MIX DESIGN CARRIED OUT AT Q. C. LAB

Cement
Coarse Aggregate
Fine Aggregate
Water
Fly ash

PREPARATION OF SURFACE

The GSB surface already

approved by consultant, the
surface shall be fine sprayed with
water and rolled with the earth
compactor and giving couple of
passes. This will stable the loose
surface.

Prior to watering and rolling loose

or dislocated spots if any will be
identified and rectified by
removing of loose material and
backfilling with good material,
compacting to the required degree
of compaction. The GSB surface
will be kept ready at least one day
in advance of DLC laying.
6
Before start of laying the guide / sensor wire are in position on both sides or one
side grade and other side slope sensor.

The dip will be given at least 20 cm high on laying of DLC surface

401.3 CONSTRUCTION OPERATION

TRANSPORTING

A. The Concrete is transported in Tippers from batching plant and to the place of laying. The
tippers are covered with tarpaulin in order to prevent water loss due to evaporation during
transits. It will be ensured that the there will be sufficient number of tippers for uninterrupted
supply of materials.

401.3 CONSTRUCTION OPERATION

PAVING

A. Paver is kept in position and concrete is

dumped in hopper .The spreading of loose
thickness of about 180mm for achieving
the compacted thickness of 150mm. The
loose thickness is ascertained by
conducting trial laying (100m length) of
DLC . The Paving will be done in two lanes,
after completion an average length of
200m the second lane is to be carried out
on the same day matching the first lane.
B. The transverse and longitudinal
construction joints are staggered by 500 –
1000mm and 200 – 400 mm respectively
from the corresponding joints in the
overlaying Pavement Quality Concrete

9
401.3 CONSTRUCTION OPERATION

COMPACTION

The Compaction is carried out immediately

after the material is laid and levelled. Rolling
shall be continued on full width till there is
no further visible moments under the roller
and surface is compacted. The required
compaction and number of passes is
ascertained by trail stretch of DLC.
.

401.3 CONSTRUCTION OPERATION

CURING

Curing of DLC will be done by

covering of surface by Gunny
Bags or Hessian cloth which will
be kept continuously moist for
the seven days by sprinkling
water using water tankers

11
Testing and Records to be Maintained

1) FDD test done in green Concrete by Sand Replacement Method and should
achieve 98% of Lab MDD

2) Levels will be taken at specified grids in grid sheet

3) Tolerance of surface levels ± 6mm

4) Getting RFI Approval from Authority engineer for laying ,surface irregularities
and level checking

5) Daily reconciliation of materials i.e., comparison of quantity received and

quantity required as per drawings

6) Daily progress report of machinery used.
