What is Stress?

According to Anspaugh et. Al (2003),


stress affected the life of everyone.
STUDENTS
Academic factors were one of the stressors
-(Wagchacahavare et al, 2013)
Learning and memory can be affected by
stress. Although an optimal level of stress
can enhance learning ability (Kaplan &
Sadock, 2000), too much stress can cause
physical and mental health problems
(Campbell & Stevenson, 1992).
Struthers et al. (2000) reported that
a high level of academic stress was
associated with lower grades.

According to Myers DG (2005) Stress is
the process by which we perceive and
respond to certain events called stressors
that we appraise as a threatening or
challenging.
Stress can be of two forms: positive stress
(Eustress) which is the feeling of relief
while negative stress (Distress). While
distress is an emotion that leads towards
disease.

What is Coping?

It is the attempt to manage and deal


with stress (Anspaugh, 2003)
What is Coping?

According to Carver et. al (1989), it is a


distinction between two main styles of
coping namely, problem-focused coping
and emotion-focused coping.

academic anxiety among ABM
students, to identify the students’ main
source of stress and to understand the
coping strategies adopted by the
students.

randomly chosen 50 ABM students of
Senior High School in APCAS with the
use of personal interview and
Questionnaire method.
