Kinesiology is the branch of
physiology that studies mechanics
and anatomy in relation to human
movement.
INTRODUCTION Biomechanics is a combination of
two words BIO refers to the living
things or life and MECHANICS refers
to the field of physics and the
forces that act on bodies in motion.
TOPIC :-
AXES &
PLANES
INTRODUCTION Human movements are stated in
three dimensions on a series of
planes and axes.
TO
Meaning of plane :- an imaginary ,
flat surface passing through the
body or organ is called plane.

There are 3 planes of motion that pass through the
human body :-
TYPES
plane .
OF
FRONTAL OR CORONAL PLANE
Also vertical and passes from left to right
dividing the body into posterior to anterior

JOINTS ROTATION
Simplest kind of motion that takes
place in a joint
It is basically one surface gliding
GLIDING over another without any angular
or rotatory movement .
MOVEMENT Very common to all movable joints
Amongst most of the articulations
of the carpus and tarsus, it is the
only motion permitted
ANGULAR MOVEMENT
Occurs only between long bones
The angles between the bones are increased and decreased
It takes place :
1. forward
2. backward
3. flexion :- bending parts of joints such that the angle decreases
4. extension :- straightening parts of joints such that the angle between them increases
5. abduction :- moving a part away from the midline
6. adduction :- moving a parts towards the midline
7. Takes place in more movable joints like the hip and the shoulder
