HTAWS function requires use of Aeronautical
Data (ED76/DO200A)
HTAWS :
Purpose: reduce the risk of CFIT (Controlled Flight Into Terrain) accidents by
providing increased situational awareness of the surrounding terrain and
Helionix Introduction
obstacles.
Provides terrain and obstacle aural and visual alerts.
Embedded Mission Functions: Internal Digital Map (DMAP)
DMAP :
Provides 2 D plan
Functions: terrain data display, aeronautical data display, Height Above Terrain
(HAT), flight plan display and management
Helionix Introduction
The maps can be displayed using different modes: Vector map, Sun Angle
Shading (SAS), Topo (Colored SAS), No Terrain DB layer.
Embedded Mission Functions: Synthetic Vision System (SVS)
SVS :
Purpose: provide a 3D representation of the terrain in front of the H/C in order to
detect or to recognize landmarks and to help the pilot orienting himself and
anticipating presence of terrain in outside degraded visual conditions.
Helionix Introduction
– UMS is standard on EC145 T2 – On-Ground processing with UMCard (step 1) / MGS (step 2)
– Compliant with the specifications of the regulations JAR OPS3 and EASA-OPS CAT.POL.H.305.
– The recorded UMS data are stored by the DTD automatically at the end of the flight or on request
– The recorded UMS data is downloaded via the CF-Card

Recording Functions: Usage Monitoring System (UMS)
UMS Functions:
H/C Usage Monitoring
– Automatic detection, monitoring and reporting of limitation exceedance
– Chip warning
– Flight Time, Block Time
– Cycles
© Airbus Helicopters rights reserved
Functions:
• Drive train health monitoring
• Rotor Tuning
• Shaft Vibration Check (on-board)
• Engine Vibration Monitoring (EVM) (future MGS capability)
© Airbus Helicopters rights reserved
Benefits:
• Less unscheduled maintenance due to early fault detection
• Allows maintenance preparation and planning as well as spare part ordering at earlier stage
• Reduces time for failure localization and can reduce secondary damage
• Improved AHD technical support based on HMS data
• Rotor tuning during normal operation - no additional maintenance flight and no time required
to install and de-install the system,
Helionix Introduction
Helicopter Flight Data Monitoring (HFDM) + FDCR + HOMP
HFDM is a systematic way of acquiring, analyzing and acting upon information from flight data
to improve operations safety.
Functions:
• Requires FDCR SW (Flight Data Continuous Recorder)
© Airbus Helicopters rights reserved
Benefits:
Applying the information learned from HFDM helps to find
new ways to improve safety, in flying practice, training,
operating procedures and to increase overall operational
efficiency.

Iridium Phone Operation Optional satellite telephone operation is available through the
Iridium satellite system that is interfaced through the Garmin GSR 56. The service includes voice, SMS
text messaging and position reporting (tracking) capabilities.
Transponder Control The GTN 7XX can perform the control and display for a remotely
mounted transponder (such as one of the GTX family of transponders) functions
NVG Garmin’s GTN 750 display/bezel backlighting is adapted to NVIS environment usage
Helionix Introduction
Garmin GTN 750 functional add-ons
COM 16W When the optional 16W COM power is configured, the GTN COM will transmit with 16
watts rather than the standard 10 watts.
SBAS Garmin’s GTN 750 is capable to support WAAS/EGNOS/MSAS SBAS and can therefore
provide SBAS navigation means (e.g. LPV).
