GOOD DAY!!!

WHAT IS
HARDWARE?
Computer hardware
Is the collection of physical parts of a
computer system. Refers to the physical elements
of a computer. Also referred to as the machinery or
the equipment of the computer.
hardware is a physical entity.
For example, the computer monitor you are
using to read this text and the mouse you are using
to navigate this web page are computer hardware.
Hardware is the ‘soul’ of the computer. Not every
part of the hardware is visible to you. Many
hardware parts are internal parts.
However, most of a computer's hardware cannot be
seen; in other words, it is not an external element of the
computer, but rather an internal one, surrounded by the
computer's casing (tower). A computer's hardware is
comprised of many different parts, but perhaps the most
important of these is the motherboard. The motherboard is
made up of even more parts that power and control the
computer.
In contrast to software, hardware is a physical entity.
Hardware and software are interconnected, without software,
the hardware of a computer would have no function.
However, without the creation of hardware to perform
tasks directed by software via the central processing unit,
software would be useless.
Hardware is limited to specifically designed tasks that
are, taken independently, very simple.
Hardware can only perform
mechanical task. The various examples
of hardware devices in the computer are
output devices like printer, monitor,
input devices like keyboard, mouse.
Hardware also includes internal
components like motherboard, RAM,
CPU and secondary storage devices like
CD, DVD, hard disk, etc.
The Four Categories of
Computer Hardware

Computer hardware refers to the physical

devices that make up a computer. Examples include the
keyboard, monitor and disk drive.
Hardware devices can be classified into four
distinct categories:

Input devices: For raw data input.

Processing devices: To process raw data instructions into

information.

Output devices: To disseminate data and information.

Storage devices: For data and information retention.

1. Input Devices
Components which are used to
input raw data are categorized under
input devices. They aid in feeding data
such as text, images, and audiovisual
recordings. They even aid in file
transfers between computers.
The keyboard is probably the most
commonly used input device.

2. Processing Devices KEYBOARD

Processing is the core function of
a computer. It is the stage where raw data
is transformed into information. Once data
has been processed, it can be used for
useful purposes.

3. Output Devices
Hardware components that
disseminate and display both data and
information are classified under the output
category.
Output is the culmination of a
cycle which starts with the input of raw
data and processing. CRT MONITOR

4. Memory/Storage
Devices
Components that retain/store
data are classified under
memory/storage devices.
