RATIONALE
• Pests are are the common problems for pet owners and
everyone is relying on expensive products like pesticides.
• Banana fruit peel is the waste product of banana and
studies have shown that it has phytochemical components
that can be used against ticks.
• Dogs are the most common pets and they are the once who
are commonly infected by ticks
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

This study on Banana fruit peel extract as an

alternative body spray for dogs against ticks has the
main objective to determine the effectiveness of
banana fruit peel extract as a body spray against
ticks in terms of the mortality rate of ticks in different
treatments.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE

To evaluate the phytochemical present in the

banana fruit peel extract body spray for dogs
against ticks.
To determine the concentration of banana
fruit peel that is effective as an alternative body
spray for dogs against ticks in terms of mortality
rate

EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN
The study will use comparative experimental design
to compare the result (the mortality rate of the different
concentrations of banana fruit peel extract body spray
against ticks) of the different treatment of the study.
This study utilized the experimental method of research
using standard laboratory procedures involved in
making body spray made out of banana.
STATISTICAL TREAMENT OF DATA

Data were subjected to Analysis of Variance

(ANOVA). It was used to determine if there were
differences between and among samples of three
concentration (50%, 75% and 100%) on the
mortality rate of ticks.
WASTE DISPOSAL

After the experiment,the waste that will be left

from the extraction process(Banana fruit peel) will
be disposed in the compost to adhere to the Solid
Waste Management Act and it will be useful for
fertilization of soil.
RESEARCH UTILIZATION AND DISSEMINATION

The study will be presented at the SHS building of

Bacarra National Comprehensive High School as a
project on Practical Research II.
