Electromagnetic Hyperloop

Objective

● Prove that electromagnetism can create a large

force.
● To clearly understand about projectile motion.
● Prove that electricity can create magnetic force.
● To do a further education from mechanism and
magnetics.
● To prove Newton’s third law.
Hypothesis

● If electric current are induced then it will create a motion

which led the ball goes in the direction intersect with electric
current and magnetic field.
Procedures

1. Check the electricity conducted by the copper wire

2. Disassemble the disposable camera and remove the main circuit
3. Wrap the copper wire around the rail
4. Attach two alligator clips to both end of the copper wire and the positive
and negative to the capacitor of the disposable camera
5. Assemble the AAA battery to the circuit
6. Charge the circuit
7. Trigger the flash in the circuit manually
Magnetic field
● Power of magnets spread around magnetic objects
● North pole always runs into south pole
● Magnetic field unit: Tesla
● As an honor to Nicolas Tesla
Electric current

● Current is amount of charge can travel per unit of time

● Formula = I = Q/t
● Current unit: Ampere
● current can be analyzed in circuit by using Ohm’s law
● V=IR
Newton’s law of motion

● When currents are induced, there will be a force act on the object
● Newton’s second law states that force acting on the object create
acceleration as a formula: sigmaF = ma
● Newton third law of motion plays a great role since the amount does the
amount of force due to the force of electric current and magnetic feild.
Mechanical energy

● By exerting force on the object creates a large amount of kinetic energy

● Kinetic energy formula: ½ mv^2
● Exerting force on object means that total energy are not conserved;
therefore, the energy at the end is the initial energy add up with work
done according to James Joule’s law
● E2total=E1total+W
Experiment

In the experimental process we planned to do the experiment for 2-3 trial

to measure the distance and speed of the projectile form the start to the
destination by using the electromagnetic force. We will increase the turns of the
copper wires to create a larger electromagnetic force.
Result

For the result of this project, the outcome is that the strength of the
electromagnetic force can be affected by the turns of the copper wire that wrap
over the tube or a pipe. Moreover, The stronger electromagnetic force that we
had it can increase and accelerate the speed of the projectile.
Conclusion

● the results does prove our hypothesis but the amount of force is not enough
due to what we expected
Errors

● Time management
● Fragile circuit
● The size of capacitors is too big
● Thickness of PVC pipe
● Coil wire are not attrach to PVC uniformly
Suggestion

● Start the product earlier since it require many trials in order to get the
product work.
● Be accurate with the materials because it require a precise PVC to create
enough electromagnetic force to create a motion of the ball
