Reflection/Conclusion
(Teaching Reading Methodologies)
Reading is a very important component in learner’s
development especially in language development. There are teaching
strategies that will make the learner develop understanding of the
world and language.
Reading encourages critical thinking skills that will be
very useful in their future endeavor in the real world or real life
situation. The mentioned approaches are effective and useful for
teachers in promoting and developing learning. Teachers should know
the different reading methodologies that could help their students to
have a progressive learning process and be an effective reader.
Teachers should choose appropriate teaching reading methodology for
specific subject matter and skills.
Reflection/Conclusion
(Teaching Reading Methodologies)
According to the approaches, teachers can start
teaching reading from easiest to difficult depending on the level
of understanding or learning progress of their student. It is
important to know the students’ level for them to know the
suited approach they can use.
Learner, must be taught vocabulary first before
proceeding to reading. Teaching vocabulary first makes it
easier to understand/ comprehend the words, phrases, and
stories.
Reading makes new insight and aware of some
possible real life situations that they will somehow encounter.
That will make them be prepared by having a good critical and
logical thinking.
Reflection/Conclusion
(Diagnosis and Remediation)
Diagnosis and Remediation is a great help in
identifying the learners need and problems in reading.
Teachers must be aware of their students’ abilities,
weaknesses, and reading development. They need to know
the strengths and weaknesses of the learner. By these, the
teacher will have knowledge on what the students can read
and what to do to read successfully.
Reflection/Conclusion
(Diagnosis and Remediation)
Diagnosis relates to the techniques by which teacher
discovers and evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of her
students individually. It is an effective guidance that enables
them to know necessary development or remedial measures
for student.

Remediation is a process of re-teaching. It helps fill in

the learner’s needs and inadequacies. It motivate them by
making goals clear and attainable through the use of activities
and exercise in the learner’s level. Teacher provides instruction
in learner’s level providing them opportunities to practice
reading under different conditions. The remediation process
should be a meaningful practice to the learner/s.
Reflection/Conclusion
(Assessment in Reading)
The measurement and evaluation are important to
teachers who are responsible for knowledge instruction
because it provides ways for improvements to be made.
Assessment is the rating or measuring of the knowledge,
comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and
evaluation of achievement level. There are three domains in
assessing learning; Assessing Cognitive Learning, Assessing
Affective Learning, and Assessing Psychomotor Learning.
These domains are made to see the significant learning
outcome of the learners like the level of achievements.
Reflection/Conclusion
(Assessment in Reading)
For assessing reading as a language arts include five
interactive components: the observation, activity, test or task
must be relevant, authentic, and part of the teaching-learning
process by informing the learner and further instruction.
