What is MEMORY?
In computing, memory refers to the Computer Hardware
Integrated Circuits that store information for immediate
use in a computer.

Computer memory operates at a high speed.

RDRAM EEPROM
RAM
(RANDOM-ACCESS MEMORY)

Stands for random-access memory, which makes it possible to

find specific very quickly. It is a form of fast-access, volatile
storage that is used as the main memory in computer Systems.
The most widely used form of RAM for the main memory is
Dynamic RAM (DRAM).

DRAM
(Dynamic Random-Access Memory)

Dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) is a

type of memory that is typically used for data
or program code that a computer processor
needs to function. DRAM is a common type of
random access memory (RAM) used in
personal computers (PCs), workstations and
servers.

SRAM
(Static Random-Access Memory)

 SRAM (static RAM) is random access memory

as long as power is being supplied. Unlike Dynamic RAM
(DRAM),
which stores bits in cells consisting of a capacitor and a
transitor,
SRAM does not have to be periodically refreshed.

RDRAM
(Rambus Dynamic Random Access Memory)

 RDRAM (Rambus Dynamic Random Access

Memory) is a memory subsystem that promises to
transfer up to 1.6 billion bytes per second. The
subsystem consists of the random access memory
(RAM), the RAM controller, and the bus (path)
connecting RAM to the microprocessor and the
devices in the computer that use it.

ROM
(Read-Only Memory)

ROM stands fot read-only memory. It’s used to store

the start-up instructions for a computer, also known as
the firmware. Most modern computers use flash-based
ROM. It is part of thee BIOS chip, which is located on
the motherboard.

PROM
(Programmable Read-only Memory)

Programmable Read-only Memory (PROM) is

read-only memory (ROM) that can be modified
once by a user. PROM is a way allowing a user to
tailor a microcode program using a special
machine called PROM programmer.

EPROM
(Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory)

EPROM (Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory)

is programmable read-only memory that can be erased
and re-used. Erasure is caused by shining an intense
ultraviolet light through a window that is designed into
the memory chip.

RDRAM EEPROM
EEPROM
(Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory)

EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only

Memory) is user-modifiable read-only memory (ROM)
that can be erased and reprogrammed (written to)
repeatedly through the application of higher than normal
electrical voltage. Unlike EPROM chips, EEPROMs do not
need to be removed from the computer to be modified.
What is the difference between the EPROM
and EEPROM?

The difference between the EPROM and

EEPROM on how the content in both are erased.
In EPROM, the content is erased by exposing it
to the UV Light.
In EEPROM, the content is erased by the
electrical signals.
What is the difference between the RAM
and ROM?

Data in RAM is not permanently written. When

you power off your computer the data stored in
RAM is deleted.
Data in ROM is permanently written and is not
erased when you power off your computer.
