 Cadd center was established in 1988 and it is the oldest institute in

India which gives training on AutoCAD and other designing
software's.

 The Head quarter of cadd center is located at Chennai Tamil Nadu.

Whose chairman & managing director is Mr. C.R Vaitheeswaran.

 There are more than 350+ centers in India and 12+ centers in other
countries like Nigeria, Malaysia, UAE, Singapore etc.

 Cadd center provides all facilities to students like study material,

good faculty, great environment , updated software's, life long
membership at a reasonable rate.
 AutoCAD is a commercial software application for 2D and
3D computer-aided design and drafting . It was first
developed and marketed by Autodesk in 1982 in U.S.A
by John Walker .

 In India it was first developed by “Bracks India private

limited” in 1987 in Pune.

 Autodesk is one of the leading company in industrial

designing software's. It is used across a wide range of
industries , by architects, project managers, engineers ,
and other professionals
AutoCAD Is one of the basic software which is used for
drafting in an industry. Now a days more advanced software's
like pro-E, catia , solid works, NX-Cad etc. are used in
industry.

 AutoCAD basically used for 2-d modeling because its 3-d

part is not convenient and useful as compared to other
software's.
Applications of AutoCAD
 AutoCAD is generally used for digital drafting in an industry.
We can make designs and layouts of our product with an ease and accuracy.

 Produce professional drawings in the minimum time.

AutoCAD is used mostly for 2-d designs. AutoCAD is one of the simplest and
convenient software of designing.

 There are lot of other versions of AutoCAD which are used by not only by
mechanical or civil engg but also by electrical engg for there circuit
diagrams.
 AutoCAD is also be used by engineers
To design buildings and mechanical
Items as well
 Giving commands
 Object snap
 Zooming and panning
 Drawing 2D shapes
 Drawing 3D shapes
 Editing
 UCS
 Command line

 Toolbars
(view/Toolbars)
 Osnap (Object Snap) settings make it easier to select a
2d object’s points and it shows it’s properties .
 Endpoint
 Midpoint
 Perpendicular
 Center
 İntersection
 Osnap will be active when
AutoCAD is expecting you to
pick a point on the working area
 Type osnap on your
command window to open
Osnap settings .
Drawing 2D Shapes
To draw a line :-
 To draw a line enter line command (L Enter) in
command line or simply pick it from toolbars
 AutoCAD recognizes an object by its coordinates. You
will need two given points to draw a line.
(x’,y’,z’)

(x,y,z)

 You can start at a random point on your WCS for your

FIRST POINT, but you should specify the coordinates of
your SECOND POINT to give a specific length of line .
Give the command
 Type “line” on the command window, OR
 Click on the line icon on the Draw toolbar, OR
 Select Line on the Draw menu
1. Specify the first point (a)
 Click on a random point on your working area

b
10
a 45

2. Specify the second point in relation to the first

point
 @distance<degrees
 @10<45
7 units
a b

1. Hit F8 (ortho on)

2. Give the line command
3. Specify the first point
4. Specify the second point in relation to the first point
 Point the cursor to the left hand side. You will see that
the cursor snaps only to 0o-90o-180o-270o
 Type 7 and hit enter to draw a line of length 7 units.
 Hatching is used to add shaded patterns to objects and shapes within
an Autocad drawing. Hatch patterns can be used to indicate a material
to be used, such as a concrete hatch. Alternatively it could be used to
make an area of a drawing stand out.

 You will pick:

 Pattern
 Scale
 Angle
 points
 Solids contain the “mass properties” of 3D objects.
 You can use the Solids toolbar for readily accessible
objects

 Box  Torus
 Cylinder  Cone
 Wedge  Sphere
You can use the Boolean operations of more
complicated shapes.
 Union (join two solids)
 Subtract (carve out the second solid from the first)
 Intersection (only the common area)
 If you “extrude” a surface into the third dimension,
you simply add a thickness in section. This basically is
same as creating a “solid” object

Extrude 5
units 5 units

Extrude -4
units

4 units
 This command is used to create a copy of object about
a center line.
 To give mirror command we can directly use it from
toolbar or from command line
