USER HARDWARE • A computer system is

defined as
combination of
components
designed to process
data and store files.
• A computer system
SOFTWARE
requires hardware,
software and a user
to fully function.

HARDWARE

There are Four component in hardware:

1. Input devices 2. Output devices
3. Storage devices 4.Processor
Input Devices
• Input devices are any electronic device
that are connected to a computer and
produces input signals such audio, text,
video, graphic.
Name :

Input Video in
meeting or
conference
Output Devices
• Output is the result of data processing
activity when it is presented externally to the
system. The output from a computer can be
printed or displayed form .
• An output device is hardware that is capable of
delivering or showing information to one or
more users.
Storage Devices
• Information and documents are stored
in a computer storage so that it can be
retrieved whenever they are needed later
on.
• Computer storage is the holding of data
in an electromagnetic form for access
by a computer processor.
Processor
• The CPU is an example of a processor. It
has the same important as the brain to
human being.
CPU
(Central Processing Unit)
• CPU is the heart and brain of a computer.
• It receives data as input.
• Follows instruction and processes data
accordingly.
• Presents the information as out put to the user.
• Its primary function is to execute programs.
• It controls & coordinates all components such as
memory, input and output devices.

Components of the CPU
In the CPU, there are two primary components.

1)ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) – performs mathematical,

logical and decision operations.

2)CU (Control Unit) – directs all the processors

operations.

Forms of Application Software:

I. Package Software.
II. Custom Software
III. Shareware
IV. Freeware
V. Open Software
VI. Web Applications
VII. Mobile Apps
VIII. Portable Software
Forms of Application Software

Package Software:
Packaged software or retail software is a copyrighted
available for different types of users. It is not developed for a particular user or organization.
Examples of packaged software are word processing and spreadsheet software. Many
packaged software are also available on the Web.

Custom Software:
Custom software is developed to meet the exact
requirements of a particular customer or organization. The cost of customized software is
more than package software.
Forms of Application Software

Shareware:
Shareware is a copyrighted software that is available free of cost for
a limited time period. The user can use shareware for a certain time period. The user
has to purchase it if he want to use it further.
Normally, shareware software stops working properly when the time period is expired. It
displays a message to the user to purchase it.

Freeware:
Freeware is a copyright software that is available free of cost for
unlimited time period. Demo disks often come under this category. Many software
programs are produced for educational purpose.
Forms of Application Software

Open Software:
Open source software is provided for use, modification and
redistribution without any cost. Anyone can modify the instructions of software and
redistribute it. The open source software usually can be downloaded from the Internet.

Web Applications:
Web application or Web app is a type of software that is
accessed with a Web browser .
Most Web apps do not required any installation on local computer of handheld device.
The computer requires a Web browser and a Internet connection to use the Web apps.
Forms of Application Software
