Q1. What is the initial position of the Moving

Man? 0 meter
Q2. What is the position of the house? 8 meters
Q3. What is the position of the tree? -8 meters
Q4. What is the position of the house with respect
to the tree? The house is 16 meters to the left of
the tree

Velocity Time Position

2 m/s 1 sec. 2m
2 m/s 2 sec. 4m
2 m/s 3 sec. 6m
2 m/s 4 sec. 8m

SCIENCE CROSS-SPECIALIZATION Teaching and Learning Division

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FORCE, MOTION AND ENERGY

Q5. With the same amount of velocity, what

happens to the position in meter if the time
increases? The position of the man increases as the
time increases
Q6. What do you think will happen if the time
decreases? The position of the man decreases as
the time decreases
Try to change the velocity in 3 m/s with the same
time (1 sec).
Q7. What happens to the position? Did it increase
or decrease? The position increases.

SCIENCE CROSS-SPECIALIZATION Teaching and Learning Division

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FORCE, MOTION AND ENERGY

Q8. Comparing the results you have found out, how

will you describe the relationship of the velocity to the
position the man(distance) and the time?

The velocity is directly proportional to the position or

distance and inversely proportional to the time.
As the velocity increases the distance also increases
with a specified time or vice versa.
As the velocity increases the time decreases with a
specified distance or vice versa.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FORCE, MOTION AND ENERGY

Speed vs. Velocity vs. Acceleration

• Speed is described how
fast or slow the motion
is.
• Velocity is the speed of
something in a given
direction.
• Acceleration is the rate
of change of velocity of
an object with respect
to time.

MOTION
• The concept of motion is qualified by two
quantity scalar and vector.
• Scalar is always described by its magnitude.
• Ex. Speed and Distance.
• Vector is describe both by the magnitude and
direction.
• Ex. Displacement, Velocity and Acceleration

MOTION
• Note:
• Motion can be represented by Graph.

Concepts
Clarification
• All statement about motion depend on the
observer’s frame of reference.
• The relative motion of an object is determined in
relation to reference point.
• The distance and direction of an object’s motion
from the starting point straight to the endpoint is
the objects displacement.
SCIENCE CROSS-SPECIALIZATION Teaching and Learning Division
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FORCE, MOTION AND ENERGY

Concepts
clarification
• The speed of an object tells quickly the object changes
position
• Speed can be determined using speed=distance/time
• Velocity is the speed and the direction of the motion.
• The motion of an object can be represented by a
graph.

SCIENCE CROSS-SPECIALIZATION Teaching and Learning Division

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FORCE, MOTION AND ENERGY

Concepts
clarification
• Any change in velocity is an acceleration
• Acceleration can be calculated using
acceleration=final speed-original speed /time.
• Deceleration is decrease in speed.

LAW OF INERTIA
Q1. The box move as the force applied on it.
Q2. As the box moves then suddenly you apply
an opposite force against the box the box will
stop to move.
Q3. In law of inertia the object at rest will not
move if you will not apply force on it. And if the
object is moving it will continue to move and
will not stop unless you applied outside force
on it.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FORCE, MOTION AND ENERGY

LAW OF ACCELERATION
Q1. 1.46 m/s2
Q2. 0.76 m/s2
Q3. As the mass increase the acceleration
decrease, therefore mass and acceleration
are inversely related if the net force is
constant.
Q4. The acceleration of the object is directly
proportional to the magnitude of the net force
acting on it and inversely proportional to its
mass.

Q3. The force given by the man is also
equal to force given by the box to the
man
