The concept of the Honesty Payment

System is to allow passengers to drop
their fares in a cashbox or tap their bus
cards in a machine.

Two Bus lines did a trial run of the

Honesty Payment System: Green Frog
Hybrid Bus line runs the Kalayaan to
Mall of Asia route, while G-Liner has
taken the Cainta to Quiapo route.

How did it start?

The concept of the Honesty Payment System is
to address the staff shortfall of G-liner in
providing conductors to collect payment. In an
effort to improve efficiency, they implemented
the Honesty Payment System in July 2018.

How does it work?

Fare Rule Guides are properly posted near the
cashbox wherein commuters are supposed to
drop the exact fare amount for their destination.
What happened and why it failed for Green Frog Bus
Company?

What Happened?
To its disappointment, Green Frog
found that 30% of the passengers did
not observe the honesty system,
meaning they did not pay their fares.

Why Did It Fail?

There has to be proper education for
commuters to prepare the exact fare so
there will be no issues when it comes
to dropping the exact amount to be
settled.
