What is Internet:

 Is a global network of computers which may be


server or client that exchanges information.
 It can be defines as a “network of networks” which
can be linked through copper wires, wireless
connections and other technologies.
 This is the world-wide network of computers
accessible to anyone who knows their Internet
Protocol (IP) address.
Uses of Internet:

 Access information.
 Conduct Bussiness.
 Entertainment.
 Shops.
 Chatting.
 Exchanging informations.

Cable internet provides high speed internet access
through the cables TV network
DSL
DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. It requires DSL
modem and provides high speed connection using
regular telephone line.
SATELLITE
Satellite Internet service provide high speed internet
connection via satellite dish that communicates
with a satellite modem. It is slower and more
expensive.
MOBILE WIRELESS
Mobile wireless internet access is most commonly
used with mobile device. It enables the user to
connect to the internet using 3G and 4G network
standards.
FTTP
FTTP is the fastest type of broadband with top
speeds of 300 Mbps. It carries signal on fiber optic
cables.
WIFI HOTSPOT
WiFi Hotspot is a site that offers internet access to
the users through a wireless access point.

Internet

Some important terminologies of internet are as follows:


Website:
A collection of related web pages that you can access
electronically is called Website.
It contain text, graphics, sound and video.
There are different types of websites that provide different
types of content such as news, information, education, and
entertainment etc.
Home Page:
The starting web page of a website is called home page.
Hyper link:
A hyper link is simply part of the text on a web page, that when clicked on
will automatically
Take you to a different part of the same page.
Take you to a different page within the web site
Lunch an application, video, or sound.
Enable you to download file.

Anchor:
An anchor is a link to different parts of the same web page.
Image Map:
An image map is a clickable image that is divided into different regions or
areas.
These regions are also called hotspot
Frame:
Frame is a container window that can display a web page. A web page may
consist of many frame.
Many web pages can be displayed at the same time by using frame.
HTTP:
It is stand for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol
It is communication protocol used to connect to severs on th WORLD
WIDE WEB
It allows computer users to access the internet.
HTML:
It is stand for Hyper Text Markup Languages.
It was developed in early 1990s.
HTML code can be written in any text with notepad.
HTML is not a programming languages.
Webmaster:
Webmaster is the person who develops and maintain a web site.
Some important responsibilities of webmaster are as follows:
Designing the website
Creating and updating web pages
Replying to user feedback
Monitoring traffic through the site
URL:
URL: stands for Uniform Resource Locator
Every web document has unique URL.

http:// This part indicates the protocol used to retrieve the specified
document.
www :This indicates World Wide Web.
Google.com: This part is the domain name and indicates the unique
address of website. It is also called host name.
/services/ The slash indicates a specific directory within a website.
Index.html: A word with .html extension indicates the name of a page in
the website.
ISP:
ISP stand for Internet Service provider.
It is company that provides the internet access to the home and business
users.
Blogs:
Blog is a shortcut for Web Log.
Blogs are used by the internet user to publish views.
Bloggers generally update the websites frequently.
Web apps:
Web app is a type of software.
Most web apps do not require any installation on local computer or
handheld device
The computer requires a web browser and a internet connection to use the
Web apps.
