What is Trading Network?


 TN is a system of organizations that are
connected to share business information.

 The organizations in a TN are strategic


partners, buyers, suppliers and market
places.

 They share business information by


exchanging documents like purchase
orders, order status, acknowledgement,
invoices and as well as domain specific
business documents.

 It is a component that enables the
enterprise to link with other companies
(strategic partners, buyers, suppliers) and
market places to form Business to
Business (B2B) trading network.

 wM TN is integrated with the wM


Integration Server (IS). Configuration,
administration, and management tasks
performed on IS applies to the TN.

 It is used to built, manage and analyze


your Trading network

Integration Server:
 The server handles the management
of partners on your network and the
exchange of documents.
 Trading Partner interacts with the IS
via the Trading Networks Console
and/or Trading Networks Web
Manager.
 Partners interact with the server to
exchange business documents.

Relational Database (RDBMS)

 Trading Networks store all the


information about the trading
network: partner information, the
types of documents to process, how
to process business documents,
information about business
documents that pass through the
network.

TN Console:

 The console is a java GUI and is the main


user interface for Trading Networks.

 The Trading Networks Console perform


functions such as managing the profiles of
your trading partners, designing how
documents are exchanged through your
network, and performing real-time
monitoring and analysis.

TN Web Manager

 It is a lightweight alternative to TN console.


 It offers some of the functionality of the TN
Console plus additional administrative
actions.
 It allows small partners to participate and
exchange business documents in the
trading network.

Partners In TN
 A buyer, supplier, or strategic partner that
uses other software, can also be added to
the trading network.

 Partners are added to the trading network


by defining profile for each partner.

 A partner in a trading network need not be


exclusively a hub or a spoke. It can be a
hub of its own network and a spoke in
another partner's network.

Enterprise And Partner Profile

 A profile is a collection of information


about any corporation or unit existing
in the trading network.
 The profile contains both technical
(delivery method, certificate
information) and business level
information (payment terms, contact
details).
 Profiles are made up of profile fields.

 Standard fields:
It includes all the baseline
information like profile name, mailing
address and so of an enterprise or
partner.

 Extended fields:
These are the custom fields which
can be defined in addition to the
standard profile

Document Types

 It lists all the documents (like


purchase order, invoice,
acknowledgement) which are
expected to be exchanged in the
trading network.

 TN supports XML and flat file


documents
Document Types
TN document contains or includes

 Identification Information – to recognize the


incoming document, whether it is a PO or
custom document.

 Extraction Information – the attributes to be


extracted from the document.

 Pre-processing option – the action which


has to be performed before applying the
processing rule. Example validate or save
document.

 Attribute identifies the specific or


selected content or field from the
business document. Example
purchase order number or account
number of the sender.

 TN maintains two types of attributes


system attributes (senderId,
receiverId, documentId) and custom
attributes (TotalOrderAmount,
countryCode)

Processing Rule

 Processing rules define the actions


that trading networks has to perform
for a particular document.

 TN selects a matching processing


rule by navigating the processing
rule list and matching the information
from document with the one
specified in the rule

Trading Partner Agreement
(TPA)

 It defines the relation between the


partners in a trading network.

 This agreement can be accessed by


the services specified in the
processing rule, to build the
exchange document.
Transaction Analysis

 The transaction analysis screen


lists the documents which
reached TN and saved to TN
database.
 Managing and tracking of
document and document
delivery.
 Resubmitting and reprocessing
of document.
Activity Log

 It maintains the log of activities like


receiving a document, processing
and delivering it.

 Activity log entries can be queried


based on the partner associated with
the entry, activity type that identifies
the severity level i.e., error, warning,
or informational, text of activity log
message and the date of activity log
